Greek
System May Be Coming To ABAC
TIFTON - Greek
social organizations have flourished on college campuses for many years. Since Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College is
now a State College offering bachelor’s degrees, the Greek system of
fraternities and sororities will have a chance to become a part of campus life,
according to an announcement today by Dr. Gail Dillard, Vice President for
Student Affairs.
“Our
students have expressed an interest in the Greek system on campus, and we want
to follow up on their request,” Dillard said.
Dillard
said an ABAC Greek Life Task Force has set up a policy for recognition and
chartering of Greek social organizations. ABAC will consider proposals
for the establishment of social fraternities and sororities from Feb. 1 to
April 2. A formal letter of interest must be submitted to Dillard to
begin the process.
At
the end of the proposal period, Greek organizations who have met the criteria
will be invited to the campus for a presentation to the Greek Life Task
Force. That Task Force will then recommend to Dillard how many and which
organizations should be invited to establish on campus. The final approval will
rest with ABAC President David Bridges and his Cabinet.
