SEVENTEEN GRADUATE FROM POLICE ACADEMY AT ABAC
TIFTON—Seventeen individuals from the South Georgia area recently received certificates at graduation exercises for the 234th session of the Georgia Public Safety Training Center (GPSTC) Regional Police Academy at Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College.
Academy Director Marty Smith said the Overall Achievement award for the session was awarded to Jonathan L. Harrell of the Coffee County Sheriff’s Office. Harrell also received second place in Academics. First place in Academics went to James E. Burgess of the Lee County Sheriff’s Office. First place in Firearms was awarded to Matthew B. Stone of the Dougherty County Police Department, and second place was presented to Jeremy D. Ganger of Hazlehurst, sponsored by the GPSTC - Tifton.
The president of the 234th session was Brandon K. Haygood of Hazlehurst, sponsored by the GPSTC – Tifton.
Other graduates included Matthew R. Henry of the ABAC Police Department; Jason T. Scott of the Americus Police Department; Lee E. Whitehead of the Bainbridge Police Department; Alan E. Moore of the Cook County Sheriff’s Office; Spencer M. Disharoon, Benjamin J. Glosson, Brent A. Merritt, and James C. Morrison of Hazlehurst, sponsored by the GPSTC; Vincent L. Holmes of the Lowndes County Sheriff’s Office; David C. Deen of the Lumber City Police Department; Daniel Torres, Jr., of the Tift County Sheriff’s Office; and Mark A. Wynn of the Turner County Sheriff’s Office.
