Incident Reporting and Security Awareness

Incident Reporting and Security Awareness

Reports filed with the ABAC Police Department are stored, disseminated, and released in accordance with Georgia open records laws and the rules of the Georgia Crime Information Center. Reports about incidents reported to this agency are submitted monthly to the state.

Information regarding criminal activity and/or arrests made by this agency is available to the public in accordance with state open records laws. The College is in compliance with the Campus Security Act of 1990, Jeanne Clery Act of 1998 and is constantly upgrading the safety and security of the campus.

Timely notice of incidents occurring on or off campus is considered important for the safety and welfare of the campus community. A safety bulletin is issued the day of the incident or as soon as possible thereafter. Bulletins are sent to employees and students via E-mail and bulletins are posted on bulletin boards throughout the campus and in residence halls. The incident is also reported in the college newspaper and on the ABAC Police Department web page.

The local news paper the Tifton Gazette also prints a daily crime report.

Prevention of criminal activity remains the single best way to deter potential crime.
