Firearms on Campus

Firearms on Campus

Weapons are not permitted on the ABAC campus. In fact, it is a violation of state law to possess a firearm or other weapon on campus or within 1,000 feet of the campus.

The following weapons are prohibited from this campus:

“any pistol, revolver, or any weapon designed or intended to propel a missile of any kind, or any dirk, bowie knife, switchblade knife, ballistic knife, any other knife having a blade of three or more inches, straight-edge razor, spring stick, metal knuckles, blackjack, or any flailing instrument consisting of two or more rigid parts connected in such a manner as to allow them to swing freely, which may be known as nun chahka, nun chuck, nunchaku, shuriken, or fighting chain, or any disc, of whatever configuration, having at least two points or pointed blades which is designed to be thrown or propelled and which may be known as a throwing star or oriental dart, or any weapon of like kind."

                        (Ga. L. 1992, p. 1315 OCGA 16-11-127.1)

Those needing to bring a weapon on campus for educational purposes must contact the ABAC Police Department in advance for permission. Resident students will have to make arrangements for safe storage of weapons off campus.
