Women's Soccer
Fillies Advance to The Semifinals
The ABAC Fillies are in the semifinals
of the playoffs at Darton College in Albany, GA. Fillies To Host First Round For the first time in the history of the program, the women’s soccer team at Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College will host a first round state playoff game on the ABAC campus on Tuesday when the Fillies take on South Georgia College at 4 p.m. “The first year we hosted the playoffs, the soccer field was not finished so we played at the E.B. Hamilton Sports Complex,” Fillies’ Coach Jimmy Ballenger said. “This will be the first time it will be hosted on the campus.” ABAC knocked off Gordon College on Friday by
a 5-1 score to run its season record to 14-6, the most wins
in Fillies’ history. Ballenger said the first playoff match will be a tough game. The Fillies defeated South Georgia twice in regular season play by identical 2-0 scores. Going for a third straight win will be a challenge. “Hopefully we will do well because we have the home turf advantage,” said Ballenger. “We always seem to excel when we play at home.” If the Fillies win the first round, they
will play the second and third rounds of the playoffs at
Darton College.
