Women's Soccer
Congratulations to:
ABAC's All Time Scoring Leader, Fillies' soccer team member Melissa Johnson scored her 29th goal on Tuesday in a 6-1 win over arch rival Middle Georgia to become the all time single season record holder for goals in a season. The 9-4 Fillies will be back at home Friday against Georgia Perimeter in a 5 p.m. matchup against the number two rated team in America. After Friday's encounter with the Lady Jaguars, ABAC closes out its regular season with home matches against Darton at 5 p.m. on Oct. 12 and against South Georgia at 4 p.m. on Oct. 17. Soccer excites fans across the world, and soccer mania came to the ABAC campus in 2006 when the college initiated its first women's soccer program. Coach Jimmy Ballenger's Fillies compete in the Georgia Junior College Athletic Association. In terms of the number of teams, soccer is the most popular women's sport in the GJCAA. ABAC added a new dimension to its 421-acre campus in 2007 with the addition of a women's intercollegiate soccer field. The Fillies have a built in fan base since the field is located next to the ultra modern ABAC Place Apartments Complex.
For more information on the program, contact Coach Ballenger at (229) 391-4939 or jballenger@abac.edu. |
