ABAC's Women's Tennis

Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College has designated a fund to receive donations in memory of Harley Klepfer.  "Grandpa Harley” was an avid supporter of the ABAC Tennis program since 1991.  Harley remained connected with many of the former players, staying up-to-date on their lifes' journeys, including knowing many spouses and children.

On behalf of his dedication to the Tennis program, Harley was an inaugural inductee into the ABAC Athletics Hall of Fame in 2009.  Donations made in his memory will be used to support the Hall as his induction was one of Harley's most cherished honors.

Please send donations to Alan Kramer, Athletics Director, ABAC 41, 2802 Moore Hwy. Tifton, GA 31793-2601.  Please make checks payable to the ABAC Foundation, Inc.

Mr. ABAC 2011
Mr. Bernard Green
Sponsored By Women's Tennis Team

TIFTONBernard Green, a sophomore business major from Tifton, was selected as Mr. ABAC 2011 during the recent competition at Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College.
Green is a sophomore who serves as president of the ABAC Ambassadors.  He is the 20-year-old son of Belinda and Johnny Green.  He was sponsored by the women’s tennis team.
“I am proud to be able to serve my school,” Green said.  “I was surprised to get it.  It got a little nerve-racking at the end.”
A part of Green’s nervousness can be attributed to the fact that he had forgotten the pants to go with his formal outfit and had to run back to his room on campus to secure them.  Feeling much calmer with his pants on, a button suddenly popped off his suit.
Green’s training as an ABAC Ambassador shifted into high gear as he calmed his nerves and won the title.
“I look at ABAC very differently now than when I started as a freshman,” Green said. “I would recommend ABAC to anyone. I’ll never forget my experiences here.  They have been life-changing.  I will definitely miss the relationships I have built.”

Kramer Named To NJCAA Hall of Fame

Alan Kramer, coach of the tennis teams at ABAC, has been selected for induction into the National Junior
College Athletic Association Women’s Tennis Hall of Fame.
The selection came as a complete surprise to Kramer, when it was announced at the annual banquet at last week’s NJCAA women’s tournament in Tucson, Ariz. “I had no idea,” said Kramer. “It was a surprising experience to be honored in front of all the student athletes and coaches. It’s also very humbling to be recognized among your peers.”
Kramer is not a newcomer when it comes to recognition. He was named ITA/Wilson National Intercollegiate
Women’s Coach of the Year in 1998 and 2007. He has also been named Region XVII Coach of the year 10 times since he began coaching at ABAC.
The ABAC Fillies have won 17 consecutive Region XVII championships. In 1999, ABAC finished as national runner-up. The team has been ranked in the top 10 in the country for a decade. Kramer has coached a total of 22 All-Americans and two national champions in his coaching career.
Two of this year’s Fillies were also honored at the banquet. Bia Miranda was named Rookie of the Year, and Marley Myers was selected as the ITA Region IV Arthur Ashe Award recipient. The Fillies finished 17th in the tournament. The Stallions are in tourney action this week.

White Named Coach of the Year

ABAC Assistant Coach Dale White has been named the 2009 Assistant Coach of the Year in the NJCAA. White is in his first year as the assistant coach with the tennis team. He received his undergraduate degree from Armstrong Atlantic and his graduate degree from Georgia Southern. Besides his tennis duties, the England native also teaches several classes at the college.
