#07 Chelsie Mathis    *Freshman*    *2B*    *Newnan, GA

Campbell on Chelsie:  “Chelsie comes to us from the outstanding high school program at Northgate.  She is a fundamentally sound infielder who will provide the Fillies with excellent defense at 2^nd base this year.  She is a joy to have at ABAC.”

High School:  Chelsie attended Northgate High School in Newnan, GA. and played varsity softball for three years. During the four years I played for Northgate, she was named Most Valuable Player and Best Defensive Player twice. My junior year, we placed second in the State Finals. Northgate won the State Championship title for division 4-AAAA and Chelsie was the starting second baseman on that championship team.

Personal:  Chelsie was born on December 6, 1989 in Palmetto, GA. to Mark and Deborah Mathis and has one older sister, Courtney, a brother-in-law, Kyle, and a younger brother, Cody. Another big part of the Mathis family is Benji, our family dog. Chelsie is majoring in Family and Consumer Sciences and hopes to become an interior designer.

Why ABAC?  I chose ABAC because I bonded with all of the players when I came to visit. Not to mention, Coach Campbell was a great coach and easy to get along with. I didn’t want to be overwhelmed by a big campus and this campus is perfect.
