Campbell on Brittney:  “Brittney is a natural athlete.  She will see playing time in our infield as well have pitching duties for the Fillies.  She is a hard worker and will play a big role in 2006.”

 

High School:  Brittney was a varsity starter all 4 years in high school and a 2 year letterman winner in soccer at Bainbridge High School.  She received the Pride of the Lady Cats award her freshman and sophomore year for leadership and teamwork qualities and the MVP award both her junior and senior year.  She was also selected to the All Region team her senior year.  She was a member of the National Honor Society and Anchor Club throughout high school.

 

Personal:  Brittney was born on December 22, 1986 to Riley and Susan London.  She enjoys all types of sports, loves being competitive and likes outdoor activities such a fishing and four-wheeler riding.  She plans on working towards becoming a Physician’s Assistant in the future.

 

Why ABAC?  ABAC has a great reputation, not only for education, but its atmosphere.  Going to college is all about being comfortable where you are and I fell in love with ABAC as soon as I set foot on campus.  It’s where I wanted to be.

 

 

 

#26 Haley Maxwell

Campbell on Haley:  “Haley is a natural outfielder with a tremendous arm.  She is the complete player and a joy to have on our team.”

 

High School:  Haley was a 2 year letterman in softball and tennis at Worth County High School.  Her junior year her team was runner up in region 1-AAA.  She was best offensive her junior year, best defensive and all region her senior year.  She was also MVP in tennis her senior year.

 

Personal:  Born August 27, 1986, Haley enjoys spending time with family and friends and playing sports.  She is the daughter of Steve and Debbie Maxwell with one brother, Scott, and two sisters, Jennifer and Leslie.  She plans to pursue a degree in education.

 

Why ABAC?  I came to ABAC to participate in the great softball program and to get an education in a friendly and comfortable environment.

 

 

#33 Teresa Long

Campbell on Teresa:  “Teresa knows the meaning of hard work and it has paid off for her and she had a great 2005 season.  She will help us with her bat as well and will split catching duties in the 2006 season.”   

 

College:  Teresa did an outstanding job last year as one of our two starting catchers in 2005 and led the team in home runs, with 6.”

 

High School: Teresa was a four year varsity starter, started every game, and also played basketball and golf at Bleckley County High School.  She was awarded the Best Offensive Player Award her freshman year.  Her ninth grade year she was on the Second All Middle Georgia Team.  Her tenth grade year her team won region and got fourth place in state.  In her senior year they went to sectionals and she got the Coach’s Award and the Leadership Award. 

 

Personal: Teresa was born on July 12, 1986 to her proud parents, Barry and Melanie Long.  She has one brother, B.J., which is 13 years old.  Teresa enjoys a lot of things such as softball, golf, talking on the phone, and spending time with family and friends. After ABAC she plans on attending a four-year school and pursue her education in Early Childhood. 

 

Why ABAC? “I choose ABAC because I wanted to be apart of a good athletic program.  I wanted to fulfill my dream of playing college softball and by coming to ABAC I have done so.  I didn’t want to be to far away from home, so ABAC was a great choice for me to pursue my softball dreams as well as my education.”

 

 

 

#30 Marquita Grimes

Campbell on Marquita:  “I expect great things with Marquita’s bat.  She is capable of being a great hitter for the Fillies in 2006.  She is a total team player and is a valuable asset to our team.”

 

College:  Marquita saw limited time last season for the Fillies, but so far this Fall she has become the hitter I knew she could be.  She will see time in the DH spot in 2006.”   

                                   

High School: Marquita was a four year letterman at Evans High school. She played varsity softball, basketball. She helped her softball team win region 5 AAAAA title in her senior year. She won most spirited, best offensive, and coach’s award. She also played on the Augusta Stings traveling fast pitch softball team.

 

Personal: Born March, 5, 1986…enjoys playing sports, singing, making people laugh, shopping, church affiliations, and spending time with friends and family. She is the daughter of Pamela Marshall and has one younger sister, Tiphani and one younger brother, Joacinto. Marquita is majoring in Dental Hygiene and minor in music.

 

Why ABAC?: “I choose ABAC because they have a good educational program for my major and the softball  program is great!!!”

 

 

 

#7 Megan Henley

Campbell on Megan:  “Megan is an excellent shortstop and as she gain experience at the college level, she will be a big asset to our young team.  She has all the tools to become a great college player for ABAC.”

 

High School: Megan was a four year varsity softball letterman at Statesboro High School under head coach Karry Parker, and served as team captain her senior year. She was awarded Most Valuable Player her sophomore year, Most Valuable Defense her junior year, Most Valuable Offense and First Team All-Region her senior year. Her senior year she led the Lady Devils softball team in every stat. Megan was recoginzed in 2004 as one of the Statesboro Herald's "Women In Sports". In 2005 Megan was nominated for the Who's Who in Athletics at Statesboro High, was on the homecoming court and was a three year varsity letterman for the Lady Devils basketball team.

 

Personal: Megan was born on February 23, in Statesboro, GA. She is the oldest daughter of Ricky and Mary Henley. She has one older brother Ty, and one younger sister Mary-Ashley. Megan's favorite things to do are play softball, work out at the gym/run, go shopping, hunting/fishing, take trips to the beach, swim, talk on the phone, spend time with her family and friends and have a good time. Megan is majoring in business administration.

 

Why ABAC? When I met Coach Campbell and all the girls the day I tried out, I just knew ABAC was the team I wanted to play with and be a part of. The knowledge Coach Campbell has about softball will only add that much more to my game.

 

 

 

#27 Amber Whittle

Campbell on Amber:   “Amber is a natural athlete and will be fun to watch in 2006 making more than the routine catches in our outfield.  She has an excellent arm and the four year colleges will have their eye on Amber.”

College:  Played 1b for us in 2005.  Amber is a natural lefty at the plate and provided some excellent hitting in 2005.  Amber will move to her natural position in 2006, playing left field.

High School: Amber was a four year letterman for the Tift County High Lady Devils, as her team were Runner-up in Region 1-5A her 9th and 12th grade years.  In 2000, the Lady Devils finished 4th in 4A State.  Amber was named to the First team for Region 1-5A as a junior.  She has received such awards as Best Offensive player and Best Outfielder during her junior year and was named Captain of her team her senior year.  Amber also played basketball her 9th grade and ran track for three years.

Personal: Amber was born on August 7, 1986.  She is the daughter of Wayne and Carmen Whittle, and she has one older brother, David.  Favorite hobbies are playing softball, tennis, and ultimate Frisbee. She enjoys hanging out with friends and family.  She also attends First Baptist Church of Tifton.  She is majoring in History. 

Why ABAC?: "I chose to come to ABAC because it is a great school that is close to home.  ABAC has an excellent softball program, one that I have wanted to play for since I moved to Tifton in eighth grade.  Playing softball in college has always been a dream of mine, so being able to play for the Fillies is definitely a dream come true.  If I had the chance, I would not change my mind about coming to ABAC, it the perfect school for me.”

 

#17 Jordan Tharp

Campbell on Jordan:  “I am so happy that Jordan decided to transfer to ABAC as she played at T.C.C. last season.  She will come in and provide instant experience to our young Fillie team in 2006.  She will see playing time at 2b as well as pitching duties.”

High School:   Jordan played for coach Marty Richburg at Hardaway High School...set school record for RBI...three-time All-Bi-City (Columbus & Phenoix City, Ala.) selection...second-team all-state...received Team Leader Award and Intensity Award...helped lead Hardaway to Georgia's 4A Championship...batted .379 with 47 RBI...also pitched and has a microscopic 0.74 ERA.  Jordan also played travel ball for the Georgia Challengers for 5 years.

Personal:  Jordan Tharp was born February 5, 1986 to the loving parents Danny and Cindy Tharp.  She has an older sister, Lauren, and a younger brother, Nicholas.  Jordan enjoys hanging out with friends and watching her favorite team the Atlanta Braves along with her favorite players Jeff Francoeur and Joey Devine.  She is studying to become a high school teacher and coach.

 

Why ABAC?:  “After spending my freshman year at T.C.C., I decided I wanted to be closer to home, so I choose ABAC as I was familiar with their softball program and just wanted to be apart of it.”

 

#24 Kayla Futch

Campbell on Kayla:  “Kayla is a great fundamentally sound infielder.  She will see time in our infield and will help us with her bat.  She is an excellent bunter and will play a big role in our #2 spot in the batting order.  Kayla is also an excellent student.” 

High School: Kayla was a four year letterman at Tift County High School, where the Lady Devils were the Region 1-AAAAA Runner-up her sophomore and junior seasons and Region 1-AAAAA Champions her senior year.  Kayla was named 1st Team All-Region her junior year and an honorable mention pick her senior year.  Her senior season she was also named to the GACA All-Region team.  Kayla received awards such as the Academic Award, Best Offensive Player, and Best Defensive Player throughout her high school career.  Kayla was also the Salutatorian for her class.

 

Personal: Kayla was born on April 14, 1987.  She is the daughter of William and Jo Lynn Futch and has an older sister, Mendy.  Favorite hobbies are playing softball, tennis, and singing. She enjoys hanging out with friends and family and watching movies.  She also attends First Baptist Church of Tifton.  She is majoring in Business Administration. 

 

Why ABAC? “I chose ABAC simply because, after considering my options, it only made sense!  How could I turn down an opportunity to play for a program with such a renowned tradition of excellence and at the same time get a great education?  ABAC was the perfect place to make my dream of becoming a college athlete a reality.”

 

#10 Anna Foster

Campbell on Anna:  “Anna is an excellent catcher and will help with the catching duties in 2006.  She is fundamentally sound and will be solid behind the plate.  She will also be counted on to her us with her bat.”

 

High school: Anna was a Four year letterman for Fitzgerald High School Lady Canes. The Lady Canes were Region Champions Anna's 10th and 11th grade years. Anna was named to the 3A All-State team 10th, 11th, and 12th grade years. Anna has received awards such as Athlete of the Month in 11th grade and the Lisha Ann Young Softball scholarship.

 

Personal: Anna was born on September 3rd, 1986. She is the daughter of Barry and Lisa Foster, and has one older brother Brad. Favorite hobbies include playing softball, hunting and sitting on the beach. She enjoys hanging out with friends and being with family members. Anna is majoring in Early Childhood and would like to work in the Special Education Department.

 

Why ABAC? The reason I chose ABAC is because of the great reputation the school has and the great softball program. I have always wanted to play college softball, so I have able to do that and still be close to home.

 

 

 

#22 Cassie Burke

High School: Cassie was a four year varsity softball starter, four year varsity tennis starter, and a four year letterman in both.  She was on the state-runner up tennis team in 2004 and she was named to the All Region Tennis Team in 2004 and 2005.  She attended Screven County High School in Sylvania, Ga. through out her high school career.  She had the highest over all batting average in high school and had the most RBI's.

                                                                                                         

Personal: Born May 14, 1987 in Sylvania, Ga.......She enjoys hunting, fishing, riding four wheelers, shopping, and playing sports.  She is the daughter of Robin and Diane Potter and she has one brother, Dwayne and three sisters Hollie, Laura, and Kim.  She plans to pursue a degree in Physical Education, hoping to coach the Lady Gamecocks one day in her home town.

 

Why ABAC: " I choose ABAC, because of the southern atmosphere and because of coach.  When I came for my visit I felt like was the perfect place for me, because I felt so welcome."

High School: Amanda was a four year letterman for the Perry Lady Panthers softball team. She was named, by her team, MVP her sophomore, junior and 
senior years. In 2003 Amanda was named Region 4AAA Defensive Player and Player of the Year, and was voted to the AAA All State team. In 2004, Amanda 
was named region 4AAA Pitcher and Player of the Year, and was again voted to the AAA All state Team. Amanda helped led her team to two consecutive 
region  4AAA championships, along with two consecutive elite 8 appearances in Columbus, where the Lady Panthers finished 4th and 5th respectfully. 
2004, Amanda was named to the GHSA North/South High School All Star Team.
 
Personal: Amanda was born July 23, 1987. She is the daughter of Lorne and Lisa Tucker, and she has one younger sister named Lindsay. Favorite hobbies include softball, hunting, talking on her cell phone, and hanging with her friends and family. Amanda plans on majoring in Nursing.
 
Why ABAC? Amanda chose ABAC because she loved the campus and loved the way Coach Campbell ran her athletic program.
 
 

#38 Ivy Gartman

Campbell on Ivy:  “I am very proud to have a player of Ivy’s caliber in our program.  She is a true athlete and will be fun to watch.  She is an excellent catcher and will see time at the corners this season.” 

 

High School: Four years varsity softball and four years varsity soccer at Tift County High School Lady Devils. I made all region four years in both softball and soccer. I made all-state in both softball and soccer during my senior year. 

 

Personal: Ivy was born on August 21, 1987. Daughter of Robert and Debbie Gartman.  She has two brothers, Justin and Wade and one sister Hope. She enjoys being around her family and friends. She attends Trinity United Methodist Church.

 

Why ABAC? : I choose ABAC because it is a great college and has an excellent softball team. Coach Campbell is an awesome coach and ever since I was little I've attended camps she’s hosted.  I've always thought she'd be a great coach to play for. It is close to home so I get so see my family more which is always a plus. ABAC and I were "meant to be."

 

 

#4 Candice Toms

Campbell on Toms:  “It is a pleasure to have Candice return for her sophomore year at ABAC.  She was an All Conference player last year and a true leader on our team.  She has the passion for the game which makes her such a success on the field.”

 

College:  All Conference centerfielder last season.  Starting centerfielder and lead off hitter. 


High School:  Candice played on the Port Perry Angels Tier 1 traveling team, and was fortunate enough to experience playing in the Canada Cup in British Columbia.  Candice was also part of the team that finished 3rd at Provincials, as well as 3rd at the Nationals, making them the number three seed team in all of Canada.  In high school Candice participated in soccer, rugby, as well as track and field - placing 3rd in Ontario in the 100 meter sprint.

Personal:  Candice was born on November 25, 1984 in Peterborough, Ontario to her loving parents Randy and Ann Toms.  She has one older brother Scott, and a younger sister Christy.  Candice’s hobbies are exercising, weight lifting, spending time with friends and family back home, and playing softball. She is majoring in Business Administration.

Why ABAC?:  I decided to come to ABAC because it has a small, friendly environment with an excellent softball program.  It has a positive atmosphere, and after talking with Coach Campbell I decided this was the perfect place for me to start my softball and academic career.

 

 

 

 

#16 Glenna Ruth Parkman

Campbell on G.R.:  “I am always happy to keep Tifton area kids at home to continue their softball career and I am glad G.R. in our program.  She is a hard worker and will develop well here at ABAC.  She will see playing time in the outfield.”

 

High School:  Glenna Ruth graduated from Tiftarea Academy where she lettered in fastpitch for four years.  She also participated in basketball, track, and golf during her high school career.  She was an All Region selection in softball three years.  She helped lead her team to Region title in 2002, 2003, and 2004.  In 2002 and 2003 her team also captured the GISA State Championship.  Glenna Ruth served as team captain her senior year and was selected to play in the North-South All Star game.

 

Personal:  Glenna Ruth was born October 6, 1986.  She attended Worth County Schools and transferred to Tiftarea Academy in Chula, Ga.  She is the daughter of Glenn and Monabeth Parkman of Sylvester and has a brother, Render and a sister, Leigh.  Glenna Ruth plans on a major in Physical Terapy.

 

Why ABAC?:  I am told I’m coming to ABAC for my “M.R.S.” degree as my parents met at ABAC and my sister met her husband here as well.  Seriously though, ABAC is at the core of my family.  I grew up coming to Coach Campbell’s softball camps and so it seemed like ABAC had everything….softball, academics, family ties and that world famous down home country atmosphere.”

Campbell on Kala:  Kala has worked hard in the Summer of 2005 and will greatly add to our 2006 team.  She will see playing time at 1b.  She is a joy to coach and is working hard.”

 

College:  Kala injured her knee in 2005 and played limited time at 1b.  She will be back for a great 2006 season.”

 

High School: Kala was a five year varsity softball, four year basketball, and two year track letterman at Windsor Academy in Macon, Georgia. She was All State two years in softball, and All-Region four years. Also was All region in basketball her junior and senior year. She received best defensive player in softball, MVP in basketball and softball her senior year. She participated in the North/South All-Star game in 2003-2004 year.

 

Personal: Born August 9, 1986 in Macon Georgia…..she enjoys riding horses, shopping, church affiliations, traveling, volunteering, and being with her friends and family. She is the daughter of Greg and Wanda Morrison and has one brother Josh. She plans to pursue a degree in Human Services with a minor in Spanish.

 

Why ABAC? “My parents and Coach have always been close, so I knew what a wonderful coach she was. My dad also played baseball at ABAC and wanted me to follow in his footsteps.”

 

 

 

#15 Ashley Fairfax

Campbell on Ashley:  “Ashley is another player from Perry, Ga. And I am happy to have in our program.  Ashley is a hustler and loves to compete.  She has great speed and will add to our depth in the infield.”

 

High School: Ashley was year letterman for the Perry Lady Panthers softball team. Ashley helped led her team to two consecutive region  4AAA championships, along with two consecutive elite 8 appearances in Columbus, where the Lady Panthers finished 4th and 5th respectfully.  Ashley was an All Region 4AAA player both her junior and senior years.  She was an All State Player selection her junior year (1st team) and senior year (2nd team).  She was named Middle Georgia Player of the Year as a junior as well.  Ashley also played in the North-South All Star game her senior year.

Campbell on Jess:  “I am so excited that Jessica has chosen to continue her playing career in the United States by coming to ABAC.  She is a natural hitter and will be able to change the game with one swing of the bat.  Jess is an accomplished pitcher and will be the backbone to our pitching staff.”
 
College:  Played at Chipola Junior College in Marianna, Florida in 2005.
 

High School:  She was a role model who provided leadership qualities to her teammates throughout her high school years.  Jessica played a monumental role in leading her final high school team to the Halton regional finals and clinching the championship.  Jessica’s achievements:  2005 Canadian Nationals, 2004 Canadian Nationals, 2003 Canada Cup (British Columbia), 2002 Best Pitcher CNE  * (Canadian National Exhibition), 2001 & 2002 Kent State University Showcase  * "Best of the Best" Pitcher X 2, 2001 Notre Dame High School-  Athlete of the Year (Softball), and 2001 Canadian Nationals.

 

Personal:  Jessica was born on March 1st, 1985 in Carbonear Newfoundland Canada to her loving parents Bill and Gail Littlejohn.  She has one older sister Jennifer.  Jessica’s loves to listen to music, play basketball, and softball, softball, softball.  Her major is undeclared right now.

 

Why ABAC?:  I decided to come to ABAC when Candice Toms described her experience here.  I knew that this was exactly the kind of school that I was searching for. After meeting Coach Campbell, there was no doubt in my mind.  She made me feel so welcome and comfortable.  I quickly felt very much at home like part of a family with the Fillies Softball girls.
