#14 Melissa Gail

Macon,
GA
5'4" Sophomore 2b Bats

Campbell on Melissa: “Melissa had an outstanding season as a Freshmen, handling the duties at 2b. She will speed to the Fillie lineup. Melissa has tremendous base running skills
and will be counted on heavily to steal bases.:
College: Melissa
stole over 30 bases last season after missing the first month due to playing
basketball for the ABAC Women's team who won the
GJCAA State title in February.
Melissa was the starting point guard.
Playing two sports in college is tough, but she handles it well.
High School: Melissa was a
four year lettermen for Southwest High
School. Her senior year she helped lead her team to
the runner up spot in the regionals for AAA.
She received the Golden Glove award in 1997 and the highest batting
average award in 2000. Melissa was named
to the first team All Middle Georgia in 2000.
She was also on the basketball, track, and tennis teams.
Personal: Born on March 31, 1983... enjoys spending time with her family and friends,
playing basketball, and shopping. She is
the daughter of Benjamin and Joyce Gail...has an older brother, Gregory...an
older sister Shaunta. Melissa plans to
attend a four year college and major in Physical Therapy when she graduates
from ABAC.
# 26 Leah Shiver

Tifton,
GA
5’2” Freshman OF Bats
R/Throws R
Campbell on Leah: “Leah is a
hard worker and will add greatly to our outfield. She is fundamentally sound with a solid
glove. I expect her to develop well this
season.”
High School: She was a starter her 11th grade year in
right field and left field her senior year.
During Leah's 11th grade year, she helped lead her team to a fourth
place finish in the state.
Personal: Born April 18, 1984, her parents are Bruce and Kristie Shiver of
Tifton,
Georgia. Leah enjoys
spending time with friends and family and going horseback riding. Leah is enjoying her first year at ABAC.
She plans on attending a four-year college after ABAC.
Leah is currently majoring in pre-veterinary medicine.
# 30 Nichole Jarrell

Social Circle, GA
5’8” Freshman P/1b Bats
R / Throws R
Campbell on Nichole: “I am
extremely excited to have Nicole in our program. She is a dedicated, hard working athlete who
will contribute greatly to this year’s team.
I expect great things on the mound as well as the plate from Nicole.”
High School:
Nichole played to years at Salem High School before transferring to Social Circle her junior year. She was a four-year letterman while
attending Salem and Social Circle. Nicole has
been pitching since her freshman year. Nicole led Social Circle to state for A/AA two years in a row as they finished
in the final four. She was MVP all four years on the varsity team and made the
all-star team her sophomore, junior, and senior year.
Personal:
Born on September 4, 1983… enjoys playing softball and hanging out with family
and friends. Parents are Johnny and Charmayne Jarrell… has an older brother,
Johnathan who is still in high school.
After graduating from ABAC, Nichole wants to attend a four year school
to get her degree in Early Childhood Education.
# 28 Christy Taylor

Nashville, GA
5’5” Sophomore CF Bats
R / Throws R
Campbell on Christy: “Christy did
an outstanding job for us last year and I am counting on her leadership to anchor
the outfield this season.” She is a
great student-athlete and an asset to our college and program.”
College: Christy started almost every game in left
field last season and hit just over .300 as a freshmen. She is a solid defensive outfielder for the
Fillies.
High School: Christy was a four-year letterman for
Berrien High
School in
softball and tennis. She helped lead her
team to a third place finish in the AA State Tournament her junior year. She was selected to participate in the North
vs. South All-Star game, was selected as a member of the Tift-Area first team,
and 2AA All-Region Team her senior year.
She received the Most Valuable Player award in softball and tennis her
senior year. Christy played traveling
ball with the Waycross Suns and helped the Suns capture five out of the six
national championships.
Personal: Born on February 16, 1983…Christy enjoys spending time with her family and
friends and playing sports…She is the daughter of Johnny and Kathy
Taylor…Christy plans on attending a four-year college after ABAC to major in
Early Childhood Education.
# 33 Kristy
Shiver

Sylvester, GA
5’5” Freshman LF Bats

Kristy: “I am extremely excited to have Kristy in our
program. Kristy has great work ethics and
will be a tough out at the plate.
Defensively she is solid.”
High School:
Kristy was involved in many sports at Tiftarea Academy, including softball, basketball, track,
cross-country, and tennis. She was
Salutatorian of her class and voted Most Athletic. Her senior year, she received the Best
Offensive award and was chosen to play in the North-South All-Star game. She also holds records at her school for best
times in the 300m hurdles and the mile relay and won the high-point award at
the region track meet.
Personal:
Born on December 12, 1983…Kristy is the daughter of Jeff Shiver and Matacha
Conaway. She has three younger sisters:
Lindsey, Jennifer, Erin…and a younger brother, Tyler…Kristy is majoring in
Medicine and plans to continue playing softball at a four-year college and one
day will be a plastic surgeon.
# 24 Jill Clark

Moultrie, GA
5’11” Freshman 1b Bats

Jill: “Jill is another Freshmen I am counting on in our infield. Jill is our only true lefty at the plate and
I am expecting great things at the plate from her this season.”
High School: Jill was a three year letterman in softball at
Colquitt County High
School. She helped lead the team to a 4th
place finish her sophomore year and
3rd place finish her junior year in the 5A slow-pitch state
tournaments. She was selected 1st
team all region her junior and senior years.
Jill played traveling ball with the Outlaws and Suns; winning several
tournaments.
Personal: Born on June 18, 1984…Jill enjoys spending time with family and friends,
shopping, attending church events, and playing sports…She is the daughter of
Tim and Yvonne Clark…has one older sister, Leanna. She plans on attending a 4 year school after
ABAC to major in Speech Pathology.
# 25 Danielle Bertram

GA
5’3” Freshman 3b/SS Bats

Danielle: “Danielle is one of the most versatile athletes on the
team, being able to play almost every position in the infield. She has good speed on the base path and solid
defensive skills
High School: Danielle
was a four year letterman in softball and basketball at Dublin high school.
During her junior and senior years she helped lead her team to Region
titles in softball. She was MVP her
junior and senior years, as well as earning All-Region player of the year and
first team All-State her junior year.
Personal: Born
June 1. 1984…… enjoys hanging out with friends and playing sports, and spending
time with her family. She is the daughter
of Kathy and Rickey Bertram…. Has one younger sister, Kerri. Danielle plans to attend a four year college
after ABAC.
# 27 Jamie Hunnicutt

Macon,
GA
5’5” Sophomore 1b Bats

Jamie: “Jamie played shortstop last year for us and did an
outstanding job. This season Jamie will
move to 1st base. Jamie can
do it all on the field as she has excellent defensive skills and will be
counted on to help lead our young infield.”
College: Jamie played
almost every game at the shortstop position last season. She is an excellent defensive infielder and
hit .220.
High School: Jamie
was a three-year varsity letterman.
During her senior year, the Lady Patriots were runner up in region
AAA. She received the best all-around
award.
Personal: Born

13, 1983…enjoys traveling,
playing sports, spending quality time with friends, and family. She is the daughter of Donnie and Debbie
Hunnicutt…has two older sisters, Janet and Amanda. Jamie is majoring in Physical Therapy and plans
on attending a four year college after ABAC.
# 21 Melissa Stanley

GA
5’3” Sophomore RF Bats

Melissa: “ Melissa is another very versatile player for the
Fillies. Last season she played 2nd
base and finished the season starting in right field. Melissa did a great job in the # 2 spot in
the batting lineup and is an excellent bunter.
I will count on Melissa to have a great season again.”
College: Melissa played 2nd base and right
field for the Fillies as a Freshman. She
hit just over .250 last season and is a solid player for the Fillies.
High School:
Melissa was a four-year varsity softball letterman. In her freshmen year her team won the
GHSA AAAA State title in slowpitch and during her senior year they
were AAA region fastpitch champs. She
won the best defensive player award her senior year for the Lady Irish. She also played in the band for four years.
Personal: Born

with friends, playing the trumpet, and playing sports. She is the daughter of Richard and Joyce
Stanley…has two older brothers, Nathan and Chan. Melissa is a nursing major and
plans to attend a four year college after ABAC.
# 15 Kallie Ellison

Americus, GA
5’5 Freshman 2b Bats

Kallie: “Kallie will add greatly to our young infield, she has
solid defensive skills and I believe she will develop to be a great hitter for
the Fillies.”
High School: Kallie was a three-year varsity softball letterman,
and three year track letterman at Southland Academy. During her
sophomore year her team won the GISA State title in slowpitch and also won two Region
titles. Playing summer ball, her
tournament team, Tifton Tigers won a National Championship. Kallie was chosen to play on the North All-Star
team and made the All Georgia while team playing for the Tifton Tigers.
Personal: Born August 11, 1983… enjoys spending time with friends, hunting, fishing,
riding four-wheelers, water-skiing, and playing softball. She is the daughter of Freeman and Carleen
Ellison….is a single child…plans to attend a four year college after ABAC and
later pursue her Masters.
# 16 Caroline Cripe

Americus, GA
5’4 Freshman SS Bats/R

Campbell on Caroline: “Caroline has excellent defensive skills at shortstop
and is a natural. She is a competitor
and loves to play the game. She will be
fun to watch play in a Fillie uniform.”
High School: Caroline was a four-year varsity softball and
basketball letterman at Southland Academy and Schley County. She was player of the year her senior year in
softball. During her sophomore year her
team won the GISA State title in slowpitch.
Her traveling team the “Tifton Tigers” won the National Championship in
1998. She was chosen to play in the
North/South All-Star game her senior year. Her team also captured Region titles three
years in a row.
Personal: Born August 16, 1983….she enjoys hunting, fishing, riding horses, and
spending time with her family and friends.
She is the daughter of Jody and Jaye Cripe…..she has two brothers Caleb
and Josh. She plans to pursue a degree
in Science and transfer to a four year school.
# 22 Kelsi Thiessen

Vancouver, Canada
5’8 Freshman C Bats
R/ Throws R
Campbell on Kelsi: “Kelsi is a
solid catcher behind the plate and I expect her bat to help us in the
lineup. She is a hard worker and loves
the game.”
High School:
Kelsi played for the Port Coquitlim Ravens Midget A Softball team. In her time
with the Ravens she was captain of the team and received the Ashbrook
leadership award for her role on the field. Kelsi has traveled extensively
throughout Washington, Oregon and California for ball.
Personal:
Born September 28, 1984…
Kelsi enjoys playing all types of sports, snowboarding, camping and spending
time with her time with family and friends. She is the Daughter of Frank and
Patti Thiessen and has a younger sister named Ashley. Kelsi has been playing
fastpitch for 10 years. Kelsi plans to major in Communications. She is enjoying
her freshman year at ABAC and is looking to attend a four year college after
ABAC.
# 17 Amy Boone

Douglasville, GA
5’5 Freshman OF Bats
R/ Throws R
Campbell on Amy: “Amy is one of
the strongest athletes I have ever coached; with incredible bat speed. She comes to us from a slow pitch background,
but as she develops she will be a weapon at the plate for us.”
High School:
Amy played slow-pitch in high school all four years. She lettered all four
years. As a slow-pitch player, she played left field and hit in the clean up position.
Her team made it to state her freshman, sophomore, and senior year placing all
three times. Her senior year she received MVP for her high school and state
player of the year for AAAAA/AAAA in North Georgia. She
has six school records.
Personal:
Born September 27, 1983…enjoys
playing softball and soccer and spending time with family and friends… She has
two brothers, Tyler and Justin…She is the daughter of Buddy and Faith…She plans
on attending a four year college after ABAC to major in psychology.
# 10 Ashley Hale

Augusta, GA
5’3 Freshman C Bats
R/Throws R
Campbell on Ashley: “Ashley will see
action behind the plate handling our pitching staff this year. Ashley has all the tools to be a good college
catcher as she handles the pitchers well.
I will count on Ashley’s experience to handle our Freshmen
pitchers.”
High school: Ashley was a three year letterman at
Evans High school. She played varsity softball, basketball, and soccer.
She helped her softball team to two region 5 AAAAA titles and 5th
place in state her junior year. She also played on the Determinators traveling
fast pitch softball team which was the number one team in the nation in USSSA
in 2000. She won best defensive player in soccer her senior year.
Personal: Born February 22, 1984…enjoys playing sports, playing music, making people
laugh, spending time with friends and family. She is the daughter of Bobby and
Cindy Hale and has one younger sister, Cayla. Ashley is majoring in
communications and hopes to play softball at a four year college after ABAC.

School: Elske
graduated from Alfrink
in May 1998. While at Alfrink she played in the
highest leagues. Elske pitched for the Young
Dutch National Team as they gained three European championships. She has played
in World championship tournament in Taiwan and the Kingdom Games in St. Martin
and Curaçao.
Personal: Born
on February
23 1981... She has played softball since she was 8 years old. Her mother and
father are José and Wim ten
Hoope. She has a younger sister
Stefanie, who played at ABAC last year, and
an older brother Werner. She plans on majoring in Physical
Education at ABAC.
