Donna Campbell
Donna Campbell enters her
seventh season at Abraham Baldwin College and her sixteenth year in the
coaching profession. Before coming
to ABAC, Campbell coached nine years on the high school level and has compiled
a career record of 366 wins and 148 losses. On the high school level her teams captured two GISA State
titles while she coached at Westfield Schools in Perry, Georgia.
Six years ago, in her first
year as a collegiate coach, her ABAC team went 44-12 and won the 1996 National
Junior College Slowpitch Championship.
She was named NJCAA Slowpitch Coach of the Year. In only five seasons as a fastpitch
coach, Campbell has guided her teams to four GJCAA State titles, one District C
championship, and three top 16 NJCAA finishes competing in three National
Tournaments.
Since starting the fastpitch
program, Campbell’s teams have captured the GJCAA State titles in 1998, 1999,
200, and again in 2001. In 2002,
her team compiled 33 wins and another trip to the NJCAA National Tournament and
finished 5th in the Nation.
Her team went 18-1 against the Georgia opponents en route to being the
2001 GJCAA Fastpitch State Champions. Campbell has been named GJCAA Fastpitch
Coach of the Year four times; 1998, 1999, 2000, and 2001. Campbell’s teams have a combined record
of 66-10 against the opposing Georgia Junior colleges.
As a former player for
Sunbelt/ Blaze, Campbell was inducted into the Georgia USSSA Softball Hall of
Fame in 1997 and has been named to All-American teams at past National
Tournaments. Campbell has retired
as an active player following the 2000 Summer season.
Over her coaching career,
Campbell has maintained the philosophy that hard work, commitment, and
dedication produces positive results.
Campbell has earned an A.A. degree from Middle Georgia College, a B.S. and Masters degree in Health and Physical Education, both from Georgia College and State University. In addition to her position as Head Softball Coach, Campbell is a Health Educator at Abraham Baldwin.
