Abraham Baldwin College Softball Tradition


Since the softball program began in 1988, Abraham Baldwin has built a strong softball tradition and has been a dominating team in Region XVII. The Fillies have compiled a total record of 467 wins and 165 loses, while capturing nine Region XVII titles in thirteen years. From 1988 to 1996, the slowpitch teams won 346 games and lost 117 times. In the first four seasons of fastpicth, the Fillies have won 123 games and lost 86, capturing three Region XVII Fastpitch titles, one District C Championship, and two top 16 finishes in the NJCAA National Tournament, in 1998 and again in 2000. In 1998, ABAC had their first fastpitch player named to the ALL-American team; Jennifer McCarthy. A total of 17 softball All-Americans have been named from ABAC.

In the last four years of fastpitch, ABAC has had twelve players sign four-year softball schoalarships. The ABAC fastpitch program is fast becoming a junior college program where the four-year colleges are now looking for good, solid JUCO talent.

Three coaches have guided the Fillies since 1988: Coach Ellen Vickers (1988-1994), Coach Greg Tanner (1995), and Coach Donna Campbell (1996-present).
