Donna Campbell

Donna Campbell enters her fifth season at Abraham Baldwin College and her fourteenth year in the coaching profession. Before coming to ABAC. Campbell coached nine years on the high school level and has compiled a career record of 296 wins and 148 losses. On the high school level her teams captured two GISA State titles while she coached at Westfield Schools in Perry, Georgia.
Four years ago, in her first year as a collegiate coach, her ABAC team went 44-12 and won the 1996 NJCAA National Slowpitch Championship. She was named NJCAA Slowpitch Coach of the Year. In only three seasons as a fastpitch coach, Campbell has guided her team to two GJCAA State titles, won District C Championship, and a trip to the NJCAA National Championships in Hutchinson, Kansas.
In 1997 her team compiled a 9-1 record in Georgia and finished 17-20 in the first year of fastpitch. In 1998 her team compiled an 11-1 record in the GJCAA and finished with a record of 39-18, finishing in the top sixteen team in the NJCAA. Last year her team finished with a record of 30-25 and finished Runner-up in the GJCAA. Since starting the fastpitch program, Campbell’s teams have a combined record of 32-6 against the opposing Georgia junior colleges.
As a player for the Sunbelt/Blaze, Campbell was inducted into the Georgia USSSA Softball Hall of Fame in 1997 and has been named to All-American teams at past National Tournaments. Over her coaching career, Campbell has maintained a philosophy of hard work and dedication, along with commitment, will produce winning.
Campbell earned an AA degree from Middle Georgia College, a BS and Masters degree in Health and Physical Education, both from Georgia College and State University. In addition to her position as Head Softball coach, Campbell is an Assistant Professor of Health Education at Abraham Baldwin.

Coach Campbell welcomes back a familiar face to ABAC, Paula Simmons. Paula enters her second year as assistant for the Fillies. Paula, a former Fillie player, played for Campbell from 1994-1996 and was a member of the 1996 National Championship Team and was named to the All-American team by the NJCAA during her freshman year. As a sophomore, Paula played for the first Fillie fastpitch team at ABAC. Paula was named to the GJCAA All-Region team and helped the Fillies capture their first state title, playing second base. Paula was a great asset as a student-athlete during her two years at ABAC and is continuing as a great coach of the ABAC Fillies.
Paula recently finished her course work in Health and Physical Education at Valdosta State University this Fall and will be doing her student teaching Spring Semester. Paula plans on being an Elementary School Physical Education teacher upon graduation. Paula is married to Glen Simmons and they live in Adel, Georgia.
