1997-1998 COACHING STAFF
Donna Campbell enters her third season at Abraham Baldwin College after coaching nine years on the high school level and has compiled a career record of 226 wins and 104 losses. On the high school level her teams captured two GISA State titles while she coached at Westfield Schools in Perry, Georgia.
In 1998, Campbell led her team to a 39-18 record, 11-1 conference record and repeated as GJCAA State Champions. She was named 1998 GJCAA Coach of the Year and to the Easton Victory Club as her collegiate record is now 100 wins - 50 loses. Campbell's 98 team also captured the District C championship by beating Spartanburg Methodist College and earned them a spot in the 16 team NJCAA National Tournament in Kansas in May.
In 1997 in her first season as a collegiate Fastpitch coach, her team compiled a 9-1 record in Georgia en route to being the GJCAA Fastpitch State Champion and Finalist in District C. One additional win in May 1997 would have seen her team travel to the NJCAA National Tournament in their first year of Fastpitch. Campbell was named GJCAA Fastpitch Coach of the Year, as her team put together a 17 - 20 season against some of the best Junior College teams in the country.
In 1996 in her first year as a collegiate coach, her ABAC team went 44-12 and won the 1996 National Junior College Slowpitch Championship. She was named NJCAA Slowpitch Coach of the Year.
Coach Campbell is a speaker and clinician for USSSA as she conducts clinics in the Southeast, as well as managing camps in Middle Georgia and Florida areas.
As a player for The Blaze, Campbell was recently inducted into the Georgia USSSA Softball Hall of Fame and has been named to All-American teams at past National Tournaments. Over her coaching career, Campbell has maintained the philosophy that hard work, commitment and dedication produce positive results.
Campbell has earned an A.A. degree from Middle Georgia College, a B.Sc. and Masters degree in Health and Physical Education, both from Georgia College and State University.
In addition to her position as Head Softball Coach, Campbell is a Health Educator at Abraham Baldwin.
Coach Campbell welcomes back to her program Paula Simmons. Paula is a senior physical education major at Valdosta State University. Paula (Moore) played two years of collegiate softball at ABAC. She was an All-American first-baseman on the 1996 NJCAA Slowpitch National Championship team which went 44-12. Paula also made the switch to fastpitch in 1997 playing second base for the Filies where she hit .370 and had a .911 fielding average.
Paula is married to Glenn and resides in Adel, Ga.
