Coach Profile
Kramer came to ABAC in 1993 to resurrect the Golden Fillies have won the
Region XVII Championship and advanced to the National Championships 18
consecutive years. In 1999 the Fillies finished National Runner-up and
have finished in the top 10 nationally ten years. Kramer has an
accumulative record with the Fillies of 185 wins and 102 losses and has
coached 22 All-Americans and two National Champions. Kramer was named
ITA/Wilson National Intercollegiate Women’s Coach of the Year in 1998
and 2007 and was inducted into the NJCAA Women’s Tennis Hall of Fame in
2010. He was named Region XVII Coach of the Year 11 times.
Since 2001, Kramer has built upon the legacy of the Golden Stallions
established by legendary Coach Norman “Red” Hill and has claimed 9
Region XVII Championships.
In 2002 and 2003 the men finished National Runner-up and in 2008 and
2009 they finished 3rd. Kramer has an accumulative record with the
Stallions of 143 wins and 87 losses and has coached 32 All-Americans.
In 2006, Kramer was the recipient of the Hershel Stephens Award for
Outstanding Service and Dedication to the Men’s Coaches Association.
He was named Region XVII Coach of the Year 9 times.
Kramer served as the President of the
NJCAA Men’s Tennis Coaches Association from 2009-2011 and as
Vice-President from 2006-2009. He served as the Women’s National Ranking
Chair from 1998-2000 and as Men’s National Ranking Chair and from
2004-2008. He was the Southeastern United States Women’s Ranking Chair
from 1995-1999 and Men’s from 2001-2003. Kramer was appointed to the ITA
National Small College Operating Committee from 2004-2008 and has been
the Georgia Collegiate Athletic Association Men’s and Women’s Tennis
Chair since 1994. In 2003 Kramer was named the Southern Section USTA/ITA
Campus Recreation Award Winner. Kramer is a USPTR certified Professional
and has directed and taught at tennis camps at Lehigh University, PA;
Brown University, RI; Camp Powhattan Portland, ME; Camp Canadensis,
Stroudsburg, PA; ABAC, Tifton, GA; and Truman St. University,
Kirksville, MO. He has been Tournament Director for a myriad of high
school and USTA junior tournaments including the Red Hill Classic and
the GISA State Championships.
Kramer has served as Athletic Director at ABAC since 2000 and was
recently named the 2009-10 Under Armour AD of the Year for the Southeast
Region. Kramer played a key
role in the implementation of the ABAC Athletic Hall of Fame. He also
assisted in the development athletic complex, including soccer fields, a
softball field, and track, as well as the first-ever athletic center,
Red Hill Athletic Center, which now provides locker rooms, offices and
training room for tennis, softball and baseball.
Kramer is an Assistant Professor in the School of
Human Sciences and teaches courses in Health and Physical Education.
He spent four weeks studying in Brazil in the summer of 2009 as part of
a Fulbright-Hays Grant from the United States Department of Education.
Kramer served as the co-chair for ABAC’s Relay For Life team in
2008-09. He began the Serving For a Cure clinic sponsored by the
tennis teams on campus to raise money for cancer research since in 2002.
Kramer is an active member of the Sertoma Club and currently serves as a
“Young Gun” for the Tift County Foundation for Educational Excellence.
Kramer is a 2010 graduate of the Emerging Leaders Institute
sponsored by the Tifton/Tift County Chamber of Commerce and was awarded
the prestigious ABAC Honorary Alumnus
Award in 2011.
