Kramer Honored by USTA
TIFTON—Alan Kramer, Athletics Director and Men’s Tennis Coach at Abraham Baldwin College, has been recognized by the United States Tennis Association (USTA) as a member of its 2002 USA Tennis All-American Team. The team recognizes 28 tennis teachers from across the nation who have excelled in implementing the USTA’s local USA Tennis Programs for people of all ages and abilities.
“The teachers named to our USA Tennis All-American Team are the true champions of tennis,” said Tom Fetzer, Chief Executive, Community Tennis, USTA. “They are dedicated and passionate about getting others into the game so they too can reap the vast physical, mental, and social benefits of tennis.”
To be eligible for the national honor, nominees had to successfully implement USA Tennis programs; generate interest in USA Tennis programs through local promotions; creatively and effectively use USTA section and/or national funding; find and secure additional sponsorship resources; increase Community Tennis Association participation and/or development; and increase the number of participants in USA Tennis pathway programs.
Kramer’s ABAC Golden Stallions finished second in the National Junior College Athletic Association national tennis tournament last season and are currently ranked second in the nation. The USTA is the national governing body for the sport of tennis in the United States and is a nonprofit organization with more than 660,000 members.
