STALLION 2002-03 SEASON OUTLOOK

Coach Robert Moore returns for his third year at the helm after a 21-10 2001-02 season.  The Stallions had their best season in school history since 1982.  During one point of the season the Stallions were ranked as high as 21st in the Nation.  The Stallions had an impressive 11-2 record at home last season.  The Stallions remarkable season came to an early hault after losing to arch rival Middle Georgia in the first round of the GJCAA Conference Tournament.  The Stallions return only four sophomores off last year’s team.  No starters are back and only one sophomore returning who played in every game last year.  Benny Hayes who has the most game experience is back.  Benny will bring strength and athleticism to the forward spot.  Deon Sturdivant who has most improved player last year will be back at the guard spot.   Deon will provide scoring and ball handling.  Jermaine Barnes will provide rebounding and athleticism to the forward spot.  Eddie Ford returns to the small forward spot to provide leaping ability and streaky shooting.  Rico Paschal, a 6'4" guard/forward is back after red-shirting last year because of a foot injury.  He will provide the Stallions with some outside shooting.

The freshman class must grow up quickly for the Stallions to make a run at the GJCAA crown.  Hopefully, the Stallions will peak at the right time during the season especially with the 2003 GJCAA tournament being held in Tifton, GA this year.
