ABAC Baseball NewsWritten By: Assistant Baseball Coach, Jeff
Kilgore January 29, 2012 vs Tallhassee CC The Stallions, coming off three very close games with SJR, played host to the Eagles of Tallahassee CC on Sunday. Mental and physical fatigue appeared to be wrecking havoc on the ABAC baseball team as the two areas, pitching and defense, which stood out in the first three contest fell to pieces. In the first inning an error led to an unearned run and put the sputtering offense quickly behind the eight ball. In the third inning the Eagles were able to pad their lead scoring two runs with only one hit. After drawing a walk in the first inning Neal Gandee broke up the no hit bid by the Eagle pitcher with a line shot to left field with two down in the fourth, but was left stranded. The fifth inning the Eagles didn’t have to do much to score as they plated four runs with only a bunt single to push their lead to 7-0. In the sixth the Eagles would add another insurance run without the benefit of a hit. For the first time in the game the Eagles earned the runs that they got in the seventh as they put together three hits to push across three runs and take an eleven run lead. The Stallions would answer back in the seventh with three runs of their own with only one hit. Walks to Brad Blount, Moe Arp, Will Wilson and Matt Fryman would plate a run and leave the bases loaded for Billy Hutchins. With a 0-2 count Hutchins was able to fight the pitch off to the third base side of the infield. The pitcher fielded the ball and threw it down the right field line allowing two runs to score. Both teams would go quietly in the eighth and ninth innings and the Stallion offense would remain dormant for yet another game. Riley Sparks (L 0-1) 5 IP, 4 K’s, 4 ER
