Scrimmages: Sept. 23, 2011 vs Thomas University

The Stallions welcomed the Nighthawks of Thomas University back to town on Friday night for a double header.  In Game one the Nighthawks jumped out to an early lead scoring a pair of runs in the second and single runs in both the third and fourth.  Trailing by four the offense scratched across a single run in the bottom of the fourth only to see TU get another of their own in the fifth.  With time running out and losing 5-1 the offense inched a run closer in the bottom of the sixth.  The bottom of the seventh saw the Stallions down 5-2 with three outs remaining.  A hit and a walk started the inning followed by an RBI single closed the gap to a two run deficit.  With two down and runners at second and third an RBI single up the middle plated both runners and tied the game.  ABAC 5, TU 5

In the nightcap the Stallions once again found themselves trailing early after TU posted a three run third on just one hit.  Single runs in the fourth and fifth pulled ABAC within a run and it looked like another come from behind effort was brewing.  The nighthawks loaded the bases with no outs in the sixth but the Stallion reliever worked his way out of the jam allowing no runs.  Again in the seventh TU loaded the bases but this time ABAC wasn’t as fortunate as two runs crossed the plate to extend the lead to 5-2.  A lone run in the bottom of the seventh made the final score 5-3 as the Stallions suffered their first lose of the fall ’11 season.  Although the last inning comeback was just short it was still encouraging to see the offense fighting until the last out was recorded. ABAC 3, TU 5
