ABAC Baseball NewsWritten By: Assistant Baseball Coach, Jeff Kilgore Scrimmages: October 16, 2011 vs Andrew In
the first game of the GCAA JUCO extravaganza the Stallions were matched
up with Andrew College. The
Stallions scored an unearned run in the bottom of the first and left
three men on base with back to back strike outs.
Andrew struck back in the top of the second with two runs on one
hit and a costly defensive blunder.
ABAC threatened with base runners in the second and third but
were unable to score until the fourth.
In the fourth the offense was able to scratch across four runs on
five hits to take a 5-2 lead.
The Tigers cut the lead to two after pushing across a run in the
top half of the fifth. Good
pitching and solid defense held both offenses scoreless through the
sixth and seventh innings.
Andrew pulled within a run when they tallied a run in the eighth as
their two hits were aided by a passed ball.
ABAC quickly answered back as a lead off homerun and three two
out hits pushed the score to 7-4.
Andrew added a run in the bottom of the ninth after a lead off
double. ABAC 7, AC 5 Scrimmages: Oct 16, 2011 vs Middle Georgia The second game for the Stallions was against the
Warriors of Middle Georgia.
Middle jumped out to a quick one run lead in the first on four hits.
With two outs in the third the Stallions knotted the score at one
with two hits and a wild pitch.
A defensive lapse aloud ABAC to put a runner at second base and
score on a single to right field to take a 2-1 lead.
The lead was short lived as the Warriors bounced back and scored
three runs in the fourth on two hits and a crucial error that kept the
inning alive. Still trailing
by two runs the offense for the Stallions came roaring back and tallied
their own three run inning in the sixth but allowed the Warriors to
escape a bases loaded jam with a fly out to center field.
ABAC added a lone run in the seventh as a walk followed by a two
out double gave the Stallions a 6-4 advantage.
Down to their last six outs middle tied the score in the eighth
with a two run inning. Once
again the bats of ABAC would come to life as the second Home Run of the
day cleared the left field fence and a hit batsman would come around to
score on a double to left to give the Stallions a two run lead going
into the bottom of the ninth.
As quickly as they took the lead they would watch it melt away as
defensive blunders that had happened all day cost them their two run
lead and eventually the victory as Middle scored three runs to take the
game. ABAC 8, MGC 9 |
