Steve Janousek

Head Coach

Coach Steve Janousek is in his ninth at the helm of the ABAC Baseball Program.  The Stallions have amassed a record of 213 wins and 199 losses (.517 winning percentage), and consistently finish in the upper half of Region XVII (GJCAA).  The Stallions perpetually play one of the toughest schedules in the Region playing many of the top teams from Florida, Alabama, Illinois, Michigan and New Jersey, as well as, the always tough Conference (GJCAA) opponents.

Janousek came to Tifton after a very successful collegiate playing career and secondary level coaching career.  Janousek played on two NJCAA National Championship Baseball Teams at Middle Georgia College (1980 and 1982).  While a freshman at Middle Georgia, Janousek was drafted by the Montreal Expos in the seventh round of the 1980 Free Agent Draft.  From Cochran, Janousek went on to play his final two years at Georgia College in Milledgeville, Georgia.  As a senior and Captain, Janousek and the Colonials participated in the 1984 NAIA World Series.  Janousek Compiled a 19 – 7 ( .731 winning percentage ) record in his two years as a Colonial.

In 1985 – 86 Janousek Stayed on at Georgia College as a Graduate Teaching Assistant and Assistant Baseball Coach.  Once again, the Colonials returned to Lewiston, Idaho to participate in the 1985 NAIA World Series.

In 1986 Janousek began his high school coaching career.  Janousek came to Tifton from Toombs County High School in Lyons Georgia.  While in Lyons, Janouseks’ teams accumulated a three year record of 74 – 29 (.719 winning percentage).  In 1996 the Bulldogs captured the State Championship while amassing a 30 -7 record.  Coach Steve Janousek is very happily married to the former Lori Hunnicutt of Fort Valley, Georgia.  Lori and Steve have two children, Haley (age 16) and Cole (age 12).
