Title
Podcasting for Prospective Students
Purpose
The coordinator of recruitment, in conjunction with the public relations office, would use the equipment to develop podcasts to make available to prospective students to encourage them to apply, promote recruiting events, remind them of deadlines, etc. Potential applications include podcasts for:
We feel that as the market changes from a radio based listening audience to an audience centered around IPODs, recruiting and public relations could greatly benefit from this technology to reach our target publics. We also feel that simply offering prospective students podcasts and showcasing that technology attracts students to ABAC. We feel that podcasting could make a positive impact in recruitment numbers.
With the current media resources we have, we would be able to experiment with both audio and video podcasting.
Currently, we have over 3,100 high school senior prospects for Fall 2007 alone. This is not including underclassman or students who have already graduated from high school. Also, this total is as of Nov. 15, 2007. We expect this number to increase as we near high school graduation. Each of these students could potentially be influenced to attend ABAC through podcasting technology. Much work has been done this year recruiting in the Metro Atlanta and there are large numbers of prospect from that region. We believe that students from that area would be inclined to download and use recruiting information in podcast form and be attracted to a school that offered podcasted information. As you are well aware, the entire school benefits from increased enrollment, so activities that can be done to bring quality student to campus for the upcoming terms is an opportunity we cannot miss.
