ABAC Performance Preview Open to Public on August 15

The Office of College Advancement at Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College will host the 2017-2018 ABAC Performing Arts Season Preview at 6 p.m. on Aug. 15 to spotlight the ABAC Presents! Performing Arts Series, the First Tuesday concerts, An Evening for ABAC, the Baldwin Players’ productions, and all other musical performances at the college.

The preview will be held in the conference center of the Georgia Museum of Agriculture and Historic Village at ABAC.  Members of the community are invited to attend. Attendees should RSVP by phone at (229) 391-4895.  The preview includes a look at many free events as well as events which require admission.

The preview will include registration, recognition of sponsors, and a video highlighting all the performing arts events available to the community.  Refreshments will be provided following the video.  Sponsors will also have tables set up with information regarding their services for anyone who is interested.

Season tickets for the 2017-2018 ABAC Presents! Performing Arts Series are $80 for adults or $25 for students under 18 years of age.  To purchase individual tickets, the cost varies per event.  Order forms will be available at the preview event for ticket purchases.

ABAC Presents! is supported in part by Georgia Council for the Arts through the appropriations of the Georgia General Assembly. Georgia Council for the Arts also receives support from its partner agency, the National Endowment for the Arts.

The ABAC Presents! series sponsors are Bell Plantation and Tift Regional Health System.  Event sponsors for the preview include Hilton Garden Inn Tifton, and Ponder’s Office Products.  Bowen Donaldson Home for Funerals, Dave’s Bread and Coffee House, The Bistro, the Georgia Museum of Agriculture and Historic Village, The Local, and Southern Station serve as community partners for this event.  Parking sponsors include Captain D’s, McDonald’s, Royal Pharmacy, South Georgia Banking Company, the Tifton Housing Authority, and the Tifton Rotary Club.

The First Tuesday Concert Series, now celebrating its 16th year, is open to the public free of charge.  Performances take place in the Chapel of All Faiths at 7 p.m.  The holiday performance, “A Christmas to Remember,” will take place at the Tift Theatre at 7 p.m. on Dec. 5.

The Baldwin Players will perform “Greater Tuna” at 7 p.m. in Howard Auditorium on Oct. 26-28; “A Night of One Acts” on Jan. 25-26, 2018; and the musical comedy “I Do, I Do” on March 9-11, 2018.  Ticket prices vary based on each production. All performances are free of charge to ABAC faculty, staff, and students.

Rhythm Nation will be the featured performer at the annual Evening for ABAC scholarship event on March 2, 2018.  The event will take place at 6 p.m. at the Tifton Campus Conference Center and includes a cocktail reception, live and silent auctions, and a dinner.
