Compass Testing Excemption Policy

Compass Testing Exemption Policy


Who must take the test?

  • All entering students are required to take the Compass exam, unless they have been exempted from placement testing.

May I exempt the test?

  • Students with a College Preparatory Diploma may not be required to take all parts of the placement test if they:
    • Scored 480 or above on SAT Verbal or SAT Critical Reading
    • Scored 480 or above on SAT Math or
    • Scored 20 or above on ACT English or
    • Scored 20 or above on ACT Math.
    • Scored 260 or above on the GHSG/HELA

COMPASS Testing

Students who score below 480 on the Critical Reading or Math sections of the SAT or below 20 English and 20 Math on the ACT will be required to take the Compass placement entrance exam. In order to be admitted to ABAC a student must make the following minimum scores:

In addition, a student must test out of at least one area. Exit scores are as follows:

To be admitted, a student must meet the minimum scores in all 3 areas and exit from at least one area.

What about transfer students?

  • Since each transfer situation is different, please contact ABAC's Enrollment Center call 229-391-5004 to determine if you need to take the Compass placement exam.
