Reference Assistance
The Reference Staff is pleased to help you with your research during regular library hours.
We will also work with you over the phone. Call 1-229-391-4990.
Ask a Librarian Online Reference Service provides the opportunity for you to send your question by email (asklib@abac.edu). A reference staff member will respond to your request within two working days. This service is limited to questions that have brief, factual answers and to questions about policies or services. The reference staff may offer suggestions for starting points for longer or complex questions; however we do not offer in-depth personalized research services at this time.
Need study space?
There are eight study rooms located on the second floor of the Baldwin Library. Each of these rooms is equipped with a dry erase board, marker and an eraser. Rooms are available for use by our patrons on a first come, first served basis. Baldwin Library assumes no responsibility for items left unattended – watch your property, please! Room 308 Is the Honors Study room and is reserved for students in the Honors Program. Honors students should sign in at the front desk to obtain a key to this room and must return the key when leaving the library.
Photocopies and Printouts
Photocopies are made on the self service copier in Room 206. They are 10¢ each. Change for bills 5 dollars or smaller can be obtained at the front desk. OR: If your ABAC ID card has money on it, you may use the swipe machine by the copier to pay for your copies. Printouts from the GALILEO computers and the microfilm copier are free (limit of 5 documents per session, please).
ABAC Library Number Activation
A Baldwin Library account is required for:
ABAC students attending class in Tifton should bring their ABAC ID to the Circulation Desk for activation each semester they are enrolled. Community borrowers with a valid picture ID can go to the Circulation Desk and receive a library account. People who are under the age of 18 and NOT registered ABAC students must have the signature of a parent or guardian in order to receive borrowing privileges. Moultrie students can send a request to the library and we will activate their accounts.
CIRCULATION POLICIES
The following policies apply to materials available for circulation. Remember that a valid Baldwin Library account is required for materials checkout.
(Library card must be issued: Community users are limited to 5 items)
There is a limit of 3 audiovisual items per patron.
Remember, the owner of the library card is responsible for all material checked out on the card. To avoid being charged for other peoples’ carelessness, do not lend your card or borrowed library materials to others!
Renewals
An item may be renewed once if it is not overdue and not requested by another library patron. No renewals are made by telephone. You may renew items online through your GIL account if the material is not overdue.
Fines/Fees
Fines accrue from the first day the item becomes overdue. Overdue notices are sent only as a courtesy. Non-receipt of notices does not relieve the borrower of responsibility for unreturned items.
The fine per item does not exceed $5.00.
The library reserves the right to adjust lost charge when it is determined the value of the item lost is significantly different than the amounts given above.
Students with overdue books or unpaid fines will have a hold placed on their transcripts.
You can use your Baldwin Library card to borrow materials from any USG library. You can check out materials out at other institutions, or you can place a request using GILExpress and pick up the material at Baldwin Library. REMEMBER: Library materials from other libraries are subject to THEIR lending policies – not ABAC’s. Check your GIL account for due dates for GILExpress materials.
Interlibrary Loan and Document Delivery
Books not available through GILExpress, journal/magazine articles, and certain other materials not owned by Baldwin Library may be requested through interlibrary loan or document delivery services. Delivery may take 3 to 14 working days or longer, depending on the item requested.
ILL Request forms are available at the Reference Desk and are electronically available from the library's Web page

ABAC is an active and enthusiastic participant in the GALILEO program
GALILEO offers over 140 databases containing journal, magazine, newspaper, and book citations and some full-text articles. It also contains reliable links to Internet sites that might be appropriate for your research. If you are using GALILEO from a remote site, you will need the GALILEO password which is available through GIL--our library online catalog--if you are an ABAC student in good standing and have an activated Baldwin Library card. The password may also be obtained by asking any library staff member.
Other Periodical Databases
These databases are accessed through the GALILEO page, but are paid for by ABAC.

Library materials are protected against theft by a security system. Setting off the alarm on exit will subject your materials to a search. Be aware that rental videos will set off our system.
Food and Drink Policy
In order to preserve the library collections, food is strictly prohibited in Baldwin Library.
Beverages in spill-resistant containers are permitted except in computer work stations.
