ABAC Living/Learning Communities

The goal of Living/Learning Communities is to provide a richer educational and social experience. Living/Learning Community students have the opportunity to learn a particular subject from a variety of vantage points. Because topics are presented in different formats and reinforced by more than one instructor, students develop a deeper understanding of the subject. Students who choose the Learning Community experience tend to be more highly motivated. They are able to form closer bonds with their fellow students because they are in two or three classes together. They have the opportunity to form study groups. Participating students form closer relationships with their instructors. Students who commit to the Learning Community commit to active learning though active class participation. While not all Learning Community students live on campus, those who do are able to live close together at ABAC’s new Lakeside Residence Hall. This enables them to continue the relationships developed in their shared classes and to participate in out-of-class learning experiences.
