The purpose of the International Club at ABAC is to extend the school’s knowledge of international affairs, events, conflicts, problems, and history. Through events such as group discussions, foreign affairs presentations, movie screenings, and more, the International Club aims to promote awareness of international issues here at ABAC. Our goals include promoting study abroad programs, assisting in humanitarian causes, aiding in the teaching of international affairs, encouraging student participation, and boosting awareness and understanding of current conflicts and dilemmas throughout the world. Projects of this organization shall include, but not be limited to, the Kenya Project, foreign affairs presentations, guest speaking arrangements, and even a Model UN. The club shall inherit ideas and discussions retained in several different areas of study including Sociology, History, Political Science, Journalism, Economics, and more, and therefore, is a vital resource for several departments of ABAC.

The Kenya Project - We, the International Club of ABAC, stemmed from the members and activities of the 2006-2007 Political Science Club. As part of the Polisci Club, President Chris Wogan and Terry McStott, initiated what has become the staple of the International Club; the Kenya Project. Throughout the 2006-2007 school year, the Polisci Club raised money for AIDS orphans in Nairobi, Kenya, and sent three students to personally deliver the aid. We held the Kenya Night presentation at ABAC, the Kenya Rockfest in Tifton, the Smash and Bash, and other unique events to raise money. Overall, the club managed to collect approximately $1,500, which was donated to 2 orphanages in Kenya. For this year, we have already helped raise more than $800 for the project and haven't even held a fundraiser yet!

Our goals for this year are to continue the Kenya Project with much more success than we had last year. We are wanting to send more students to Kenya this year and collect more money as well. The ultimate goal is for the International Club to help the International Children's Relief Organization (our partner organization for the Kenya Project) continue raising money for disadvantaged children for years to come, and, in the process, increasing the success of the project year after year. We are building the foundation now and have already made great progress.
