If you like to
write, paint, sing, play an instrument, draw, or speak before an audience,
the humanities division is the right place for you. This division offers
degrees in art, English, foreign language, journalism, liberal arts, music,
and speech-drama.
After two years at our college and then two more years at a senior college or university, you can take on the world as a graphic artist, television or radio newscaster, photographer, musician, newspaper editor, English teacher, or international business linguist.
Abraham Baldwin professors encourage you to take advantage of frequent student-faculty conferences, student editing groups, and numerous writing projects, which may include writing for Pegasus, our nationally acclaimed literary magazine. Putting your ideas on paper is a skill you’ll need the rest of your life.
Foreign language majors who choose teaching should find jobs available in the state because of the shortage of instructors. Journalism majors enjoy practical writing experience with the college’s award-winning student newspaper, The Stallion.
Individual attention and specialized laboratory instruction await you in the music program. You’ll also have the chance to exhibit your talents in one of the college’s many performing groups.
Spacious facilities include an electronic piano lab, a 500-seat performing arts auditorium, studios for art and ceramics, a campus radio station, a television studio, a music building, and an art gallery.
