2007 High Five Award Nominees
Week Ending December 7, 2007: Stephanie Coney; Andy Bihl and Staff
Stephanie Coney, Technical Services Manager. Stephanie's nomination was submitted by Theresa Clemens and says, "Stephanie has gone above and beyond the call of duty here at the library. With the library in a transitional stage, she stepped in to help train me in my position. It wasn't her job to do this, but whenever I had a question or problem, she knew the answer and took the time to tell me. She has been with the library for 6 years, and knows most everything there is to know about it! Whenever anyone has a question, they go to Stephanie! She also works nights and weekends to help out, even though she has an 8 year-old son at home. She is a joy to work with, always ready with a laugh and a helping hand, and she's an incredible asset to ABAC."
Andy Bihl and Staff, ABAC Physical Plant. Andy and his staff were nominated by Alan Kramer. Their nomination follows: "I wanted to let you know how helpful Andy and his Physical Plant crew have been in organizing our cords, cables and wires at the basketball table at the gym. In the past seven years I have served as Director of Athletics we have never been able to organize the embarrassing entanglement (score clock, phone/radio lines, microphone cables, shot clock cords, computer plug-ins, table light outlets etc.) at center court, until today. Mr. Bihl was all over it and got the job done and I can not express to you how appreciative I am. I can not wait to try out the organized system at Wednesday evening’s games!! "
Week Ending October 19, 2007: Todd Sheppard, Alan Kramer, Shirley Wilson, Mike Chason, and Doug Waid (Weekly Winner, 10/19)

Submitted by Dr. Maggie Martin, their nomination is as follows: "These colleagues coordinated a bus tour for members of eight System institutions who were here for the Regents' Center for Learning Disorders fall conference. Each one went the extra mile to accommodate our guests. Needless to say, the conference attendees were highly impressed by the bus and the driver and kept commenting on how beautiful the campus is. They certainly made a great impression on our guests!"
Week Ending October 12, 2007: Nancy Coleman (Weekly Winner, 10/12; Monthly Winner, October 07)
Nancy Coleman, Director of Alumni Relations. Nancy was nominated by Eddie Seagle and his nomination follows: "Ms. Nancy Coleman has once again gone that extra mile above and beyond the call of duty. The Centennial Edition of the ABAC AgClassic Golf Tournament was a huge success on Monday, October 8. As tournament coordinator, Nancy made sure that all necessary preparations had been completed and that all players would have an opportunity to have fun and support ABAC at the same time. The weather was super, the roster was full, the course was in great shape, and everyone had a fantastic day. Thank you, Nancy, for all that you do above and beyond to make this tournament a success. We appreciate you! The players, the sponsors, the students, and the faculty and staff share these same thoughts of appreciation."
Week Ending September 21, 2007: Scott Bullington, Shawn Cox and Doug Waid (Weekly Winner, 9/21; Monthly Winner September 07)
Scott Bullington, ABAC Farm Manager; Shawn Cox, Farm Worker II; Doug Hicks, Agriculture Specialist. Scott, Shawn and Doug were nominated by Julie Boland and Teri Mathis. Their nomination is as follows: “We would like to nominate Scott Bullington, Shawn Cox, and Doug Hicks for the High Five Award. On numerous occasions they have gone above and beyond their job scope. They contact vendors and help write detailed specs for purchases. This enables bids to be more concise and ultimately save the College money. NO matter what kind of work load they have they are always willing to drop what they are doing to help us get our job done. Not once can we ever recall them not willing to help. They do not only help the Procurement Department but many other areas on Campus. Many times their help is “behind the scenes.” Driving for club activities and surplus, picking up equipment in other states, or offering help to set up activities are just a few of the many ways they help out behind the scenes. We feel they deserve the High Five Award for their hard work and dedication to ABAC.”
Week Ending August 17, 2007: Dr. Tim Marshall (Weekly Winner, 8/17; Monthly Winner August 07)
Dr. Tim Marshall, Chair, Division of Agriculture and Forest Resources. Dr. Marshall was nominated by Dr. Eddie Seagle who wrote, "In his short tenure at ABAC, Dr. Marshall has excelled above and beyond in all his duties as chair and professor. He is a LEADER, on and off the ABAC campus. He networks very effectively with industry and fully supports his faculty in the networking process in the various disciplines of the division. He can be found working on campus in the before-and-after-hours scenario each day, as well as weekends. Dr. Marshall has ABAC in his heart and it shows. He is also actively involved in the extra-curricular activities of each of the disciplines, including advisory committees, professional meetings, labs, seminars and conferences, recruiting, Sunbelt Expo, AgClassic Golf Tournament, FFA, Georgia Agribusiness Council, etc."
Week Ending July 6, 2007: Brooke Sanders (Weekly Winner, 7/6; Monthly Winner July 07)
Brooke Sanders, Recruiter. Brooke was nominated by Ali Csinos. Her nomination is as follows: "Brooke is essential to our on-campus recruitment efforts. She goes above and beyond the call of duty to make each student who visits, and their family, feel welcome and at home. Brooke also keeps a smile on the face of everyone in the office with her quick wit and fun personality. She makes our work days fun while getting the job done."
Week Ending June 8, 2007: Kim Ascani (Weekly Winner, 6/8; Monthly Winner June 07)
Kim Ascani, Tutorial Program Coordinator. Kim was nominated by Dr. Erin Campbell and her nomination reads as follows: "The Office of Learning Support has been without an assistant for the last 2 weeks while trying to get student placement testing completed for the summer, Early Bird, and Fall new student orientations. Without Kim Ascani’s selfless help and ability to see what needed to be done and perseverance to get it done, none of the testing would have been completed, nor would any of the obligations for New Student Orientations required of the Office of Learning Support have been completed. Kim embodies the ABAC spirit of lending a hand as well as representing the exceptional qualities of High Five Award winners."
Week Ending March 23, 2007: Ramonda Holton (Weekly Winner, 3/23; Monthly Winner, March 07)
Ramonda Holton, Records Coordinator II, Student Enrollment Services. Ramonda was nominated by Emily Cheek who wrote, "Late Thursday evening, March 1st deadly storms swept through our state leaving behind destroyed buildings and shattered lives. A cry for assistance was sent out to Tift County. All donated items for the storm victims were to be gathered and delivered to the Main Fire Station in Tifton. Ramonda had an idea that she thought would help with this effort. Instead of each of us, individually trying to schedule time to drop off our donated items, Ramonda organized and set up an 'in house' donation site for the entire department of Student and Enrollment Services. She reminded everyone within the department how fortunate and blessed we were that we did not suffer the loss that our neighbors in the surrounding counties had. When all the donations were gathered together, Ramonda took it upon herself to ensure delivery of all the items collected by taking them to the fire station personally. I appreciate Ramonda leading this project by rallying SES to come together to help those in need and by making it so convenient to give. Special thanks go to Ramonda and all of SES for making this project such a success by their generous donations. This is just another example of the compassion our ABAC Family has and is known for."
Week Ending January 12, 2007: Kim Thomas, (Weekly Winner, 1/12; Monthly Winner, January 07)
Kim Thomas, COMPASS Testing Specialist, Learning Support. Kim was nominated by Kim Ascani, whose nomination is as follows, "Kim handled New Student Orientation in Dr. Campbell's absence. She handled students and parents with professionalism and compassion, taking time from her already busy schedule to answer questions, explain procedures and policies, and even encourage. I listened to Kim talk with a student who was considering dropping out of college because she was having to repeat a class. Kim explained to the student the consequences of dropping out; not just how it would affect her presently but in the future. The student was encouraged and has decided to stay in college. Kim deserves to be recognized because she handles her responsibilities professionally and at the same time shows understanding to the human side of her job."
