NATURE

|
The Vice President for

Agricultural College. The President
occasionally assigns special projects, but most work is self-assigned and
reviewed only an annual basis. The
incumbent has autonomy over management of the Student and Enrollment Services
area. The incumbent directly and indirectly supervises approximately 35
employees. This position requires
superior leadership skills. The
incumbent is tasked with supervising a large staff comprising several
different areas of student life. The
incumbent must be able to mold all of these different areas and guide them
toward a common goal for the advancement of the College. The Vice President must be able to identify
individual goals for each division that coincide with the larger College
goal. He/She must be able to change
focus as needed and shift attention from one division of the department to
another without sacrificing quality of work and performance. Along with leadership
skills, the Vice President must posses an excellent ability in interpersonal
communications. This aids in motivation
of a large staff. It is also important
for the incumbent’s participation in campus-wide and departmental
committees. It is important for the
incumbent to be able to articulate concerns from the department of Student
and Enrollment Services. Furthermore, the incumbent
must exhibit a true passion for students.
The focus of the Department of Student and Enrollment Services is on
the non-academic life of students. In
order for students to develop fully in their time at ABAC, it is important
for them to have experiences outside of the classroom that prove personally
enriching. The Vice President must
always keep this in mind and make it his/her focus, using creativity,
innovation, resourcefulness, and adaptability to help stimulate these
experiences. |
