BASIC FUNCTION

 

This position will work with prospective and current students providing a student-centered continuum of

information and services from applicants to graduation.

 

NATURE & SCOPE

 

The Student Development Specialist reports to the Director of Enrollment Services; however, most work is self-assigned.  The incumbent is not responsible for supervising any other employees.

 

The Student Development Specialist will provide services and guidance in admissions, registrar, financial aid, housing, and other areas to prospective, new, current, and returning students as well as the general public and ABAC faculty and staff.  Thus it is important that the Student Development Specialist be a superior communicator.   Prioritization is a key characteristic for this position as well.

 

The Student Development Specialists will assist in organizing campus visits, student orientation programs, and information sessions for students in their assigned School.

 

In addition, innovation is required for this position.  The Student Development Specialist must be creative in how to communicate with the students to help guide them through the process.  They will also need to facilitate communication between faculty and students as needed.

BUDGETARY RESPONSIBILITIES

The Student Development Specialist is not responsible for making any decisions regarding the budget.

 

SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

This position requires a bachelor’s degree; master’s degree preferred.
