BASIC FUNCTION

The Senior Information Technology Administrator is responsible for the support, maintenance and enhancement of the institution’s administrative systems, primarily but not limited to the Banner SIS.  The Senior Information Technology Administrator will be responsible for designing, creating, and maintaining procedures, scripts, and functions for Banner and related information systems:  PeopleSoft, Discoverer, Blackbaud, and all supporting Access databases.  Position is responsible for researching and implementing enhancements to improve processing efficiencies and functional user capabilities. Additionally, the Senior Information Technology Administrator will provide functional users with training, integration, and troubleshooting for systems.

 

NATURE & SCOPE

The Senior Information Technology Administrator reports directly to the Director of Information Technology and Services. 

The Senior Information Technology Administrator must have expert skills in programming and application software.  This position is responsible for establishing, implementing, and reviewing processes and procedures which work to ensure the validity of data in all administration information systems.   In addition, the employee must use his/her knowledge to offer support in other areas and to recommend different strategies for departments. 

Inherent to this position is the task of remaining abreast of current issues and new technologies in the industry.  It is critical that the Senior Information Technology Administrator often has the opportunity and duty to recommend new systems and programs to fit needs on campus.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

 

·         Drive the analysis, design, development and implementation of solutions specifically leveraging baseline capability of the Banner Student Information System.

·         Work with functional users to provide enhancements and automations for improved functionality and efficiency.

·         Ensure that upgrades and patches are tested and applied in a timely manner to support functional users.

·         Minimize functional user downtime due to hardware/software issues and system upgrades.

·         Manage, understand, prioritize and solve application system issues/problems as they arise.

 

 

 

BUDGETARY RESPONSIBILITIES

The Senior Information Technology Administrator is responsible for tracking  maintenance costs for Banner support (hardware and software) for budgetary planning purposes.

 

SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

 

Master’s degree preferred and at least five years of experience with Banner in a college or university setting. Excellent software/systems skills required. Knowledge of database technologies and programming such as SQL, HTML, XML and PL/SQL
