BASIC FUNCTION |
|

|
This
position serves as an assistant to the Director of Human Resources. The Personnel Assistant is responsible for
assistance in operations and the implementation of finge benefits offered at
ABAC. This includes assisting with
questions regarding health, life, and long term disablity insurance, as well
as retirement benefits. In addition,
this position coordinates the filling of vacant positions. The incumbent also maintains personnel
files and records. |

NATURE
& SCOPE |
|
The Personnel Assistant
reports to the Director of Human Resources.
While the incumbent manages projects, no supervision of employees is
required. A primary responsibility of
this position is managing benefit and insurance packages for employees. This includes everything from conducting
orientations for new employees to balancing Insurance Premium Reports with
payroll reports to changing or canceling coverage. The incumbent must have a thorough knowledge
of the insurance policies in order to explain them to employees. In addition, the incumbent must clarify
Board of Regents and ABAC policies regarding employment leave time for
employees. The Personnel Assistant has
the responsibility of maintaining personnel files for all employees. The incumbent must create these files when
a new employee is hired and periodically update them. They are necessary for payroll and benefit
information. In addition, the Director
of Human Resources often calls upon the Personnel Assistant for aid on
projects and tasks. These tasks can
cover a wide variety of areas, and the incumbent must understand each of
these areas in order to be of help. Because the Personnel
Assistant has a large amount of contact with employees, he/she must possess
excellent customer relations skills.
These skills help the incumbent to explain policies and procedures to
employees. The skills help the
incumbent to give details about insurance and benefit packages to employees
as well. |

Gathers and
disburses information regarding benefit changes for the upcoming year Ø
Advertises

SPECIALIZED
KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED |
|
This position requires two
years of college or vocational school and three to five years of experience
in the field. Additionally, the
Personnel Assistant must be a notary public. |
