BASIC FUNCTION |
|

|
The
incumbent is responsible for correctly processing payroll information in a
timely manner in order to compensate employees for their services to the
College. |
|
NATURE
& SCOPE |
|
Within the hierarchy of the
College, the Payroll Assistant reports to the Director of Business
Services. The incumbent does not
supervise any other employees. The Payroll Assistant is
responsible for receiving payroll information from departments, processing
it, producing checks, and distributing these checks. Related to processing payroll information,
the Payroll Assistant must prepare payroll taxes. All of this requires a keen
understanding of the policies of the College, the Board of Regents of the
University System of Georgia, the federal government regarding payroll
procedure. In addition, this position
is very task and deadline oriented.
Payroll checks must be issued by specified dates; thus the Payroll
Assistant must be a responsible person.
Also, because the Payroll Assistant works primarily on tasks inherent
to the position, he/she must be self-motivated and able to work individually. |

SPECIALIZED
KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED |
|
This position requires two
years of college or vocational school and five to seven years of experience
in the field. The Payroll Assistant
must have a knowledge of PeopleSoft HRMS software. |
