BASIC FUNCTION |
|
The Information
Systems Coordinator is responsible for technical and functional work that
includes providing end-user training, assisting funcitional areas with policy
and procedure documentation, and administering security in applications. In addition, this individual serves as a
liaison between the functional areas of the department. This position also works closely with the
Board of Regents Office of Instructional and Institutional Technology
regarding problems, issues, upgrades, and implementations of applications
necessary to the department. |

NATURE
& SCOPE |
|
In the hierarchy of the The Information Systems
Coordinator must have significant hardware and software experience,
especially in applications commonly used by the department (Banner,
Peoplesoft, etc.). The incumbent
coordinates training in and implementation of these applications. In addition, the incumbent provides support
and troubleshooting in these areas. Patience, flexibility, and
the ability to meet deadlines are key traits of this position. Often software problems will arise in the
middle of a project or near a deadline, and the Information Systems
Coordinator will have to solve these problems in a timely and effective fashion. Prioritization plays a role when multiple
problems occur simultaneously. In addition to providing
hardware and software training and maintenance, the Information Systems
Coordinator is tasked with completing work by using the software applications. This can include processing information,
compiling reports, or other duties. |

Supervises the
initial setup and maintenance of hardware and software Ø

upgrades applications used by the department Ø
Uses software
applications to produce reports and complete work for the department Ø
Provides
leadership and plans strategies for the department in relation to technology
requirements Ø
Ensures that
information presented within reports to both on-campus and off-campus
agencies is an accurate representation of the data Ø
Writes policy
and procedure manuals for the implementation and use of applications and data
systems Ø
Designs and updates departmental web pages Ø
Interacts with
other departments on campus to ensure that systems function efficiently and
effectively |

SPECIALIZED
KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED |
|
This position requires a four-year
college degree and three to five years of experience in the field. In addition, extensive skills in software
essential to the department are required.
PC maintenance training is essential. |
