BASIC FUNCTION
|
|
The Financial Aid Processing Specialist is responsible for electronically processing all financial aid and loan applications. |
|
NATURE & SCOPE
|
|
The Financial Aid Processing Specialist has responsibility for the day-to-day loan coordination and processing of all student loan applications. The Specialist also coordinates the processing of all on-line and batch financial aid applications
The person occupying this position must have an extensive ability to analyze and interpret data. Excellent analytical, problem solving and organizational skills are required. The Specialist must also possess the ability to work independently and with a minimum of supervision and have the ability to deal effectively with the public and to work cooperatively as a member of the financial aid team. Furthermore, the Specialist must possess the ability to research and search for answers when unsure of exactly how to respond. Excellent customer service skills are required, both in person and on the phone. |

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES
|
|
Ø Managing several web-based data exchanges with outside agencies
Ø Extracting system data to process financial aid and loan applications
Ø Serving as technical support for staff in the financial aid office
Ø Processing federal and private student/parent loans both electronically and manually
Ø Maintaining and upgrading the PC based loan and FAFSA processing systems
Ø Processing FAFSA applications electronically
Ø Assisting with various financial aid functions such as awarding, verification, counseling and other duties as assigned
Ø Advising and counseling students, parents and other interested parties regarding financial aid programs, eligibility criteria, application procedures and the awarding process

SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED |
|
Proficient in various computer programs, specifically Banner, Word, Excel and Crystal Reports. |
