BASIC FUNCTION |
|
|
|
This
position is responsible for all program activities in both the Minority
Advising Program and the TRIO Program.
This includes selection of staff, training, program implementation,
supervision, maintenance of fiscal records, and personnel relations. This position is also charged with
coordinating activities related to securing and monitoring federal grants and
contracts. The incumbent also serves
as Director for the Center for Multi-Cultural Awareness. |

NATURE
& SCOPE |
|
The Director of MAP/TRIO
Programs and Coordinator of Federal Programs reports to the Vice President
and Dean of Academic Affairs. The incumbent supervises approximately 8 to 10
staff members and 60 student workers and part-time employees. A principle responsibility
of the incumbent is ensuring the compliance of Federal Program’s expenditures
with state regulations. The Director
must confirm that funds from federal grants are spent in accordance to state
requirements. In relation, it is the
mission of the director to secure federal funding for programs in the
department. Because of the nature of
the department, it is essential that the Director have excellent coordination
skills. He/She oversees several
different sub-units within the department, and he/she must be sure that they
are all working toward the goals of the department. The incumbent spends
considerable time developing relationships with students. Many programs of the department are
directed at supporting at-risk students, and it is imperative to have working
relationships with these students in order to determine how best to serve
them. |

Serves as
part-time adjunct faculty member, academic advisor, advisor to student
organizations, and member of various committees Ø
Coordinates the
planning, development, and implementation of a workshop conducted by the
Center for Multi-Cultural Awareness |

BUDGETARY
RESPONSIBILITIES The incumbent is responsible for the budgets of
multiple programs, including the Minority Advising Program, Student Support
Services, Upward Bound Classic, Upward Bound Tiftarea, College Assistance
Migrant Program (CAMP), High School Equivalency Program (HEP), and Gaining
Early Awareness and Readiness for Undergraduate Programs (GEAR-UP). These budgets total approximately $1.8
million. |
