Date Prepared:

BASIC FUNCTION

The Director of Evening and Off-Campus Programs oversees the adminstration of the Moultrie Center, as well as other off-campus sites.  He/She also serves as on-campus coordinator for four-year programs offered at ABAC by other institutions, develops and administers programs for adult and evening students, and advises cooperative degree students.

NATURE & SCOPE

The Director of Evening and Off-Campus Programs reports to the Vice President and Dean of Academic Affairs.  The incumbent supervises approximately seven employees

It is imperative that the person in this position seek out and identify the needs of evening and off-campus students.  As these are not typical students, atypical programs are needed to fit their needs.  These programs require creativity and flexibility in design and scheduling, and the Director must keep this in mind as he/she creates and reviews programs and curriculum.

In addition to administrative duties, the incumbent also acts as a promoter to the public of the programs offered by Evening and Off-Campus Programs.  This ranges from working with the public relations office on printed materials to appearing on television advertisements.  Many public appearances are required to promote the programs.

The Director also serves as the primary academic advisor for students enrolled in cooperative degree programs.  These programs allow students to work towards degrees at other institutions, so knowledge of institutional and degree requirements is necessary.

The Accel program for high school students is a further responsibility of the incumbent.  The Director works closely with high school guidance counselors to identify potential students.  The Director must show significant interpersonal skills to promote the program to parents and prospective students.
