BASIC FUNCTION |
|
The Director
of Business Services is responsible for supervising the Business Office,
Payroll Department, and Post Office.
The incumbent oversees all accounting and reporting for the College. In addition, the incumbent serves as an
assistant to the Vice President of Fiscal and Physical Affairs as needed. |
|
NATURE
& SCOPE |
|
The Vice President of
Fiscal and Physical Affairs is the direct supervisor of the Director of
Business Services. However, work is
not regularly reviewed, and the incumbent has autonomy for all decisions in
the department. This position
supervises approximately ten staff members. The staff of the Business
Office functions as a team in order to accomplish the goals of the
office. Each member has a duty and
performs it accordingly. The Director
of Business services serves as the team leader, providing direction and
assistance and motivating the staff.
The incumbent must ensure that reports are prepared correctly and
responsibilities are fulfilled. In
order to be an effective leader, communication skills are essential. Main responsibilities of
this position, in addition to handling personnel issues, include dealing with
complaints from students and parents regarding account statuses. This again requires effective communication
and problem solving ability. Patience
is also required in order to communicate the problem to concerned stakeholders
without becoming unprofessional. The Director of Business
Services is ultimately responsible for the accounting reports of the College,
so he/she must have superior understanding of the intricacies of the
accounting field. Attention to detail
is beneficial in this capacity. |

and reconciles between Banner and the PeopleSoft Financials accounting system |

BUDGETARY
RESPONSIBILITIES |

The Director of Business
Services oversees the budgets of the Business Office (approximately $530,000)
and the Post Office (approximately $200,000). |
|
SPECIALIZED
KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED |
|
This position requires at
least a four-year college degree, although a Masters of Business
Administration and license as a Certified Public Accountant are
preferred. This position also requires
three to five years of experience in the field, accounting and reporting
expertise, and fluency in PeopleSoft Financials, Banner, and Microsoft Office
software. |
