BASIC
FUNCTION |
|
The Director of Admissions and Registrar
provides leadership in the area of admissions, ensuring compliance with
University System of Georgia and |

NATURE
& SCOPE |
|
The Director of Admissions
and Registrar reports to the Vice-President of Student and Enrollment Services,
although all work is self-assigned and rarely reviewed. The position has latitude to consider
courses of action within general College policies, principles, and
goals. The incumbent has the latitude
to consider what activities must be undertaken in the areas of admissions and
student records in order to achieve the goals of the college. Reporting to this position are
approximately 20 other employees. The Director of Admissions
and Registrar is charged with ensuring the compliance of the College with
federal, state, and University System of Georgia policies. This requires an advanced understanding of
the policies. The incumbent must take
the policies and design a practical procedure for the department to follow;
the incumbent must design a reality from theory. The person occupying this
position must practice the highest ethical standards. These high standards are essential, as the
areas of admissions and student records offer an array of means to subvert
principles. Esteemed ethical behavior
is necessary in order to preserve and elevate the integrity of the
Institution. |

PRINCIPAL
ACCOUNTABILITIES |

Ø
Oversees the maintenance
and security of the records of current and former students Ø
Interprets the
admissions policies of the University System of Georgia and ABAC and applies
them to the admissions procedures Ø
Interprets the
Family and Educational Rights and Privacy Act of 1974 and develops and
administers an institutional policy accordingly Ø
Edits,
verifies, and submits various reports to the University System of Georgia
office Ø
Certifies ABAC
graduates and plans the graduation ceremony Ø
Organizes and
produces the College catalog every two years Ø
Oversees all
aspects of student enrollment, including registration, grade entry, and
end-of-term grade processing |

BUDGETARY
RESPONSIBILITIES |
|
The Director of Admissions
and Registrar oversees a personnel budget of $250,000, a travel and operating
budget of $33,000, a graduation agency account of $20,000, and a foundation
account of $2000. |
|
SPECIALIZED
KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED |
|
This position requires an
advanced degree and five to seven year of experience in the field. Thorough knowledge of ABAC and University
System of Georgia academic policies and CORE curriculum is expected, as is
knowledge of the Banner student records database. |
