BASIC FUNCTION

 

The Director of the ABAC on the Square is responsible for planning, developing, organizing, and conducting all aspects of programs or courses in conjunction with Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College in the Moultrie area.

 

 

NATURE & SCOPE

 

The Director of the ABAC on the Square reports to the Director of Evening and Off-Campus Programs.  The incumbent is the supervisor of four staff members.

 

The Director of the ABAC on the Square spends a significant amount of time dealing with student issues.  He/she is a primary recruiter for the program, and he/she is also responsible for admitting, orienting, teaching, advising, and mentoring students.  The incumbent is also the principle contact for disagreements between students and faculty members. 

 

The incumbent focuses much attention on community service and public relations.  It is important for the College to have a positive image in the community, and this responsibility falls to the incumbent for the Moultrie area.  In a related capacity, this leads to student recruitment and promotion of the Moultrie Center’s programs.

 

This position plays a critical role in the relay of information from the Moultrie Center to the main campus at Tifton.  The Director of ABAC on the Square is the primary contact for division chairs and administrators in Tifton, and it is his/her responsibility to report on the progress and needs of the program.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

 

Ø       Responsible for student recruitment, enrollment, engagement, and retention

 

Ø       Teaches freshman seminars and business courses

 

Ø       Manages staff and facilities of the Moultrie Center

 

Ø       Serves as a public relations and community service agent for the Moultrie Center and the College

 

Ø       Acts as a liaison between the Moultrie Center and the main campus

 

Ø       Monitors and administers the budget of the Moultrie Center

 

Ø       Schedules courses and rooms

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

BUDGETARY RESPONSIBILITIES

 

The incumbent is responsible for the budget of the Moultrie Center, which totals approximately $133,000.

 

 

SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

Typically, this position requires an advanced degree and three to five years of work experience.
