BASIC FUNCTION

The Development Resources Coordinator position exists to create new and monitor existing scholarships administered by the ABAC Foundation.  In addition, this position assists in identifying potential donors, forging relationships, and raising funds for the ABAC Foundation.

 

 

NATURE & SCOPE

 

The Development Resources Coordinator reports to the Assistant Director of Development.  The incumbent is responsible for supervising and managing various projects throughout the year.  While conducting business, the incumbent has the latitude to consider courses of action within well defined College practices and policies.  The incumbent may consider whether new procedures have to be developed in order to accomplish the end results.   While these results are typically specified by superiors, the incumbent decides how best to achieve these goals.

 

In order to advance to goals of Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College and the ABAC Foundation, the Office of Development and Alumni Relations must work as a team.  With such a wide variety and multitude of tasks and projects, collaboration is essential.  The Development Resources Coordinator serves as a member of this team, contributing to the goals of the office.  In addition, the incumbent is charged with taking the lead on some of the projects over the course of the year.

 

The Development Resources Coordinator spends a significant amount of time working with the management and administration of the ABAC Foundation’s scholarship program.  The incumbent is responsible for managing current scholarships and identifying needs and sources for future scholarships.  Once potential donors are identified, the Development Resources Coordinator must use superior communication ability to solicit their support of scholarships.  In addition, the incumbent must help identify criteria for these scholarships and effectively communicate this to the Scholarships and Awards Committee.

 

The incumbent also provides administrative support in all aspects of fund raising for the staff of the Office of Development and Alumni Relations.  This includes the assisting with the Annual Fund and various projects throughout the year.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

 

Ø       Creates new scholarships throughout the year by soliciting donations and working with donors to establish desired criteria

 

Ø       Maintains databases of online scholarship application submissions, scholarship recipients, and current and past scholarships

 

Ø       Attends Scholarship and Awards Committee meetings in order to answer questions, provide information, and represent donor interests

 

Ø       Assists with the development of the Annual Fund campaign and with the Annual Report

 

Ø       Assists with special projects, including the President’s Club Dinner, the Dollars for ABAC Scholars Program, and the Planned Giving Program

 

Ø       Promotes scholarship opportunities

 

Ø       Provides technical support for the Office of Development and Alumni Relations

 

 

BUDGETARY RESPONSIBILITIES

The Development Resources Coordinator analyzes and calculates funds available for scholarship awards, approximately $200,000 annually.  However, the incumbent is not responsible for budget allocation.

 

 

SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

This position requires a four-year college degree and three to five years of experience in the field.  Skill in photo editing programs is also a benefit.
