BASIC FUNCTION

 

 The Coordinator of Student Recruitment position exists to provide innovative strategies to attract high-quality students to attend Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College.  The incumbent actively promotes the College with the goal of increased interest in programs.

 

 

NATURE & SCOPE

 

The Coordinator of Student Enrollment reports directly to the Registrar and Director of Admissions and indirectly to the Vice President of Student and Enrollment Services.  The incumbent is presented with a general goal, but he/she is allowed to make decisions regarding how best to achieve that goal.  The incumbent is responsible for directing the actions of two admissions counselors.  Thus, he/she must be an effective motivator and leader.  The incumbent also must plan properly and show leadership skills.

 

This position requires a person of vision.  The incumbent is tasked with developing a college-wide recruitment plan, and therefore must be able to envision long-term goals and methods for achieving them.  Innovation is required to develop these methods.

 

In addition, the Coordinator of Student Enrollment must have an engaging personality.  His/Her job is to sell the benefits of the College to prospective students, and therefore he/she must present the best qualities of the Institution.  Interpersonal communication skills are essential to success in this position. 

 

Furthermore, the incumbent must develop good relationships with high school guidance counselors.  This is done both in person and via telephone.  These contacts help to bridge the gap between the high schools and the College, and they are critical to reaching students.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

 

Ø       Develops a college-wide recruiting plan

 

Ø       Works with individual prospective students and their families

 

Ø       Develops working relationships with high school guidance counselors

 

Ø       Coordinates off campus recruiting engagements

 

Ø       Manages scheduling and preparation for on campus recruiting events

 

Ø       Manages the activities of campus recruiters

 

Ø       Works with other College departments to develop recruiting materials

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

BUDGETARY RESPONSIBILITIES

The Coordinator of Student Enrollment manages the recruiting portion of the Student and Enrollment Services budget.

 

 

SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

This position requires a four-year college degree and one to three years of experience in the field.  In addition, a thorough knowledge of ABAC admissions policy is necessary.
