Date Prepared:

June 2005

BASIC FUNCTION

The Coordinator Assistant is responsible for arranging classes, and he/she schedules  facilities for courses taught at ABAC by other institutions in the University System of Georgia.  The incumbent is also responsible for managing the class materials, equipment, and supplies of ABAC off-campus locations in Moultrie, Sylvester, Fitzgerald, and Nashville.

NATURE & SCOPE

The Director of Evening and Off-Campus Programs supervises the Coordinator Assistant.  Approximately five temporary and student workers report to the Coordinator Assistant.  This job has the latitude to consider alternatives within well-defined procedures, precedents, and supervision.  Although the tasks that are undertaken generally follow established procedures and precedents, the incumbent has the latitude, resulting from changing work conditions, to consider the most appropriate procedure or precedent to follow.

The primary responsibility of this position is the coordination of the four-year degree programs offered at ABAC by other institutions of the University System of Georgia.  This requires extensive knowledge of the programs and the ability to communicate this information to students.  Assisting students in enrollment and registration is an assignment of this position.

Another goal of the incumbent is ensuring timely transportation of materials to and from other ABAC locations.  The Coordinator Assistant must be sure that courses have the appropriate materials, off-campus bookstores have the correct books, and facilities are scheduled appropriately for courses.

Because the incumbent deals with a variety of tasks on a daily basis, versatility is a necessity in this position.  Problems often arise which the incumbent is expected to address, and these problems must be dealt with effectively.
