BASIC FUNCTION

 

The COMPASS Testing Specialist schedules and administers COMPASS placement and exit tests and assists with other aspects of the Office of Learning Support such as compiling reports and communicating with students, parents and faculty.

 

 

NATURE & SCOPE

 

The scope of this position is very broad and requires an ability to multitask without compromising the quality of work.  The incumbent must efficiently manage daily duties and special projects.

 

A large portion of this position involves dealing with students, parents, and faculty and it is, therefore, necessary for the incumbent to be a skilled communicator. Maturity is imperative for this position, as he/she must manage requests, criticisms, and suggestions from a variety of sources.  Interpersonal skills are integral to this position.

 

In addition to communications skills, the incumbent must possess the ability to work independently without constant supervision.  The Testing Specialist must understand what needs to be done and take the necessary action to see that it is.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

 

Ø  1  Schedule and administer Compass Placement and Exit tests along with preparing results and exporting scores.

 

Ø  2  Effectively communicate with students, parents and faculty regarding learning support policies and procedures.

 

Ø  3 Assist WPE Coordinator  when administering Writing Proficiency Exams.

 

Ø  4  Prepare ABAC 1000 Instructor Manual.

 

Ø  5  Prepare Academic Intervention student files and compile AIM reports.

 

Ø  6 Plan and direct the daily activities of the unit office and related programs.

 

Ø  7 Assist the Director of Learning Support.

 

Ø  8 Other duties as assigned.

BUDGETARY RESPONSIBILITIES

This position monitors and makes purchases for the office, but is not responsible for making decisions regarding budget allocation.

 

 

SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

This position requires two or more years of college and/or three to five years of experience in the field.  Proficiency in Banner, Microsoft Office, COMPASS, Crystal Reports and other departmental-related software is required.
