BASIC FUNCTION

This position is responsible for daily maintenance of student, staff, and faculty technology, including but not limited to personal computers, PDAs, telephones, printers, and network related technology.  Another function of this position is to assist other Office of Information Tecnhnology and Services personnel in daily activities.

 

 

NATURE & SCOPE

 

The Client Support – Associate reports to the IT Network Support Professional Network Support Specialist – Manager. Occasionally, the incumbent supervises a student worker.  This job has the latitude to consider alternatives within well-defined procedures and guidelines. While the tasks that are preformed are generally proceduralized and follow established precedent, the incumbent has the latitude, resulting form changing work conditions, to consider the most appropriate procedure or guidelines to follow.

 

The primary responsibility of this position is to ensure the working capability of the computers, PDAs, scanners, printers, and other devices of students, faculty, and staff.  This requires an extensive understanding of the software and operating systems used on campus.  In addition, basic programming and HTML skills, along with server and network knowledge, are useful. 

 

The incumbent must be a determined worker, as tasks often seem daunting.  Large scale installation of computers and software can be challenging, and a resolute attitude is required in order to accomplish goals.

 

 

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

 

Ø       Responsible for troubleshooting and maintenance of student, staff, and faculty computer technology, including hardware, software, and peripherals

 

Ø       Installs and maintains network technology, including hardware and equipment

SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

This position requires two years of college or vocational school and one to three years of experience in the field.
