BASIC FUNCTION |
|
|
|
The Central
Information Systems Administrator – Manager provides leadership, strategic
planning, implementation, security, and management to support administrative
systems and services. This involves support
for budgeting (PeopleSoft), the student information system (Banner),
reporting and institutional research systems (Discoverer), the college
advancement system (Blackbaud), and all supporting Access databases. Significant knowledge of applications,
databases, and web-based programming is
utilized required. |

NATURE
& SCOPE |
|
The Central Information Systems Administrator – Manager reports
directly to the Director of Information Technology and Services. Supervisory skills are required. The Central Information Systems Administrator must have an understanding of
database programming, HTML, and application
software skills. This position is
responsible for establishing, implementing, and reviewing processes and
procedures which work to ensure the validity of data in all administration
information systems. In addition, the
employee must use his/her knowledge to offer support in other areas and to
recommend different strategies for departments. Inherent to this position
is the task of remaining abreast of current issues and new technologies in
the industry. It is critical that the Central Information Systems Administrator often
has the opportunity and duty to recommend new systems and programs to fit
needs on campus.

PRINCIPAL
ACCOUNTABILITIES |

Ø
Implement and enforce
policies, processes and procedures which ensure data validity and integrity
in all administration information systems Ø
Provide program
management and oversight responsibility for key IT initiatives Ø
Provide general
supervision for the staff members of the OITS staff responsible for
administrative services support Ø
Provide
technical and programming assistance and resolve significant problems
impacting overall project success or in the development of major systems Ø
Provide data
and coordinate interaction between the administrative services staff and that of other departments Ø
Provide support
for institutional research data and reporting Ø
Ensure
information security policies are adhered to and product usage guidelines are
followed. Ø
Represent OITS
on cross functional committees as assigned Ø
Proven ability
to meet project deadlines |

BUDGETARY
RESPONSIBILITIES |
|
The position is responsible
providing the CIO with budgetary planning figures with respect to human
resources, hardware and software requirements, maintenance contracts, and
training costs such that the CIO can plan for current year expenditures as
well as future needs. |

SPECIALIZED
KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED |
|

In addition to
significant computer, programming, and technical skills, this position
requires an advanced degree and five to seven years of work experience in the
field. Knowledge and skill
requirements include database programming , data analysis tools, strong communication skills, strong
organizational skills, strategic planning skills, ability to manage multiple
priorities and requests, ability to be flexible in a fast-paced dynamic
environment. |
