BASIC FUNCTION |
|
The Business
Intelligence Support Specialist will drive the development of a sound
infrasture to support a business intelligence environment which will provide
information to support the institution’s institutional effectiveness efforts,
decision making resources, research and analytical needs. |
|
NATURE & SCOPE With increased
demands for information to ensure that the College makes sound academic and
business decisions, the BI Support Specialist will build an environment to provide
accurate, valid and timely information.
This position will work with most all offices on campus to determine
data needs and determine the best approach to meeting those needs. The position will
also ensure the development, implementation and adherence to processes and
reports which serve to validate data.
In addition to data validation, this position will ensure that all
production and ad hoc reports provide accurate and valid information. Documentation for data definitions,
standard reports and automated processes resulting in data extraction will be
maintained by this employee. |

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES |

Develop and
document standardized data definitions ·
Develop data
quality control procedures and ensure adherence to developed procedures ·
Develop standard
and ad hoc reports, ensuring accuracy, validity and documentation of report
criteria ·
Develop and
maintain the institution’s online dashboards ·
Maintain
institution’s web-based data presentation sites and ensure accuracy and
consistency among information presented ·
Make decisions
about the best tool to search and collect data based on the scope of the data
request ·
Manage,
understand, prioritize and solve data/business intelligence issue/problems as
they arise |

The Business
Intelligence Support Specialist has minimal budgetary
responsibilities. |

SPECIALIZED
KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED ·
Must be able to
work with currently-used software (Oracle Discoverer and Banner) and learn
new software applications quickly ·
Must possess
strong analytical skills ·
Must be able to
collaborate effectively with people of various technical and functional
backgrounds and support them in their use of the data and reports
Master’s degree preferred in information systems or
related field and at least five years of experience in data management/business
intelligence or related field. Excellent software/systems skills required.
Knowledge of SQL, HTML, XML. PL/SQL, and data
warehouse technologies required. |
