BASIC FUNCTION

 

 The position of Assistant Director is responsible for all outreach efforts within the office.  This position also provides individual advising to current and prospective students and parents regarding financial aid eligibility, the various programs available, and reviews submitted documents to enable award delivery.

 

 

 

NATURE & SCOPE

 

The Assistant Director of Financial Aid is a managerial position in college administration.  Duties involve assisting director and other college administration in a variety of financial aid related activities.  The primary responsibilities include coordinating and administering all financial aid services offered to new and currently enrolled students and assisting the director with overall office operations.  The position requires an employee with substantial computer skills; organizational abilities; ability to relate to students, parents and college faculty/administrators; ability to be highly accurate with numbers and records; and ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.  Further, the position requires an ability to perform under stressful working conditions and availability to work nights and weekends when required, ability to analyze and solve problems related to financial aid applications, and computer literacy and data entry skills to include Banner and Microsoft Office

 

 

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

 

Ø      Advising and assisting prospective and continuing students and parents about financial aid eligibility, aid programs, application procedures and financial need in accordance with federal, state, and institutional rules and regulations

Ø      Ensuring that awarded financial aid is appropriately disbursed and credited to students’ accounts; identifying problems related to award delivery, and communicating with the appropriate individual or department for resolution

Ø      Processing and updating financial aid applications

Ø      Assisting in the preparation, review and timely submission of required forms and reports

Ø      Providing direction to students on how to resolve data conflicts which result from application misinformation, using complex computer programs to retrieve and analyze financial aid data

Ø      Evaluating financial aid programs to determine which meet the student’s demonstrated needs

Ø      Developing and maintaining current knowledge of financial aid programs and eligibility requirements by attending training, workshops, and conferences

Ø      Performing other job-related duties as assigned

BUDGETARY RESPONSIBILITIES

The position of Assistant Director does not have budgetary responsibilities.

 

 

SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
