NATURE & SCOPE

The Assistant Director of the Arts Connection is supervised by the Director of the Arts Connection.  While no employees report directly to this position, the incumbent is solely responsible for managing various projects.

It is the task of the Assistant Director of the Arts Connection to transfer ideas and concepts into reality.  He/She is directly responsible for most of the legwork that brings events to the stage, programming to schools, and information to stakeholders.  This position requires a high degree of organization to coordinate effectively and efficiently the daily responsibilities that make art and education events happen.  The incumbent is responsible for much of the behind-the-scenes work that makes public activities appear easy.

The Assistant Director of the Arts Connection is responsible for managing several projects.  A main focus of the incumbent is the Arts in Schools Program.  This program brings events to local schools and serves approximately 17,000 students annually.  Another responsibility of the incumbent is the submission of grant proposals for the Grassroots Arts Program.  The incumbent distributes these funds to local arts projects that correspond with the goals of the Arts Connection, and he/she helps with the promotion and coordination of these events.  Several arts festivals are coordinated by the incumbent.  The tasks associated with these festivals include stage management, logistics, and administrative support of the board of directors for each festival.  Additionally, the incumbent organizes and hosts the Fall Affair Fundraiser, and annual fundraiser supporting the Arts Connection.   Other events also require the attention and supervision of the Assistant Director throughout the year, and an aptitude for multitasking is necessary as several events often take place at the same time.
